Volvo S60

Volvo S60 front side

The Volvo S60 is a Swedish luxury executive sedan that goes up against German luxury sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A3, and the BMW 3-Series. But then again, the S60 is unlike any of its German rivals as it has its own distinct personality and way of doing things. It looks bold and elegant on the outside, while also offering a luxurious interior, a soothing driving experience, and comes with loads of safety features. The Volvo S60 has been on sale since the year 2000, and has gone through three generations so far.

Volvo S60 design

After remaining unchanged for almost a decade, Volvo launched a comprehensively updated avatar of the S60 at the end of 2020. The update ensured a complete overhaul of the previous-gen S60 – featuring changes to the exterior design, interior, the car’s features list and its powertrain options. Priced at around 185,000 dirhams, the new Volvo S60 is the most affordable luxury sedan on this list. Still, you can find even more pocket-friendly options on Cars24, as it has listings of certified used cars in Sharjah and second-hand cars for sale in Abu Dhabi.

Exterior

Volvo S60 front

With its evidently-Scandinavian design cues coming from the larger S90, the new Volvo S60 is undeniably a head-turner. Then there are the infamous Thor’s hammer-shaped LED headlamps, a swanky yet charming chrome grille with vertical bars, neatly-designed front & rear bumpers, and a long sweeping hood – all of which lends this sedan an unmistakable level of boldness and presence out on the road. On the side, the dimensions are extremely well-proportioned, while the kink at the base of the C-pillar is an interesting element and is further highlighted by chrome.

Volvo S60 side

At the back, the C-shaped tail lamps, taken straight from the more expensive S90, look really elegant as well. The latest iteration of the S60 is sitting atop Volvo's Scalable Platform architecture, and is the only car in its segment to feature an engine that is transversely mounted.

Volvo S60 rear side

As far as the dimensions go, the new Volvo S60 is 4,761mm long, 2,039mm wide, 1,437 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,873mm. Meanwhile, this sedan has a boot capacity of 391 liters. Some of the exterior colors available with the S60 include Maple Brown, Onyx Black, Crystal White Pearl, and Denim Blue.

Interior

Volvo S60 interior

Enter into the new Volvo S60’s cabin, and you will straight away feel comfortable and well taken care of. Keep no doubt, this unmistakably is a car that embarks to bring down your heartbeat as opposed to exhilarating you. Volvo boasts its wonderful build quality inside the new S60, which displays high-quality materials almost all throughout the cabin. There is an all-black interior theme that can feel a bit unpleasant to some, but Volvo also offers a dual-tone theme that will appeal to many.

Volvo S60 features

What gives the new S60 a massive lift are the sections of supreme-quality leather, the delicate touch points that feel incredible to run your fingers along and, with Volvo giving you almost similar material qualities as their more costly vehicles, the luxurious factor inside this cabin is second-to-none. Many buyers will love the chrome finish on the large volume-control buttons, and the large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is pretty crisp to operate. However, due to the lack of physical buttons for all the AC controls, changing the settings on the go can be a bit tedious.

Volvo S60 cabin

The front seats of the Volvo S60 are large enough and extremely comfortable. They offer generous back and under-thigh support, whilst scoring well when it comes to long-distance cruising. Rear passengers also get fairly decent headroom as well as legroom, but the new S60 is still not as spacious as the latest Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which currently is the benchmark in the segment in terms of overall practicality. Furthermore, the rear bench of the S60 is set a touch too low, resulting in poor under-thigh support for the rear passengers.

Volvo S60 rear seats

However, the new Volvo S60 offers a long list of equipment; key features include a 9-inch tablet-style infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a heads-up display, electrically adjustable front seats with massage function, satellite navigation, a wireless charging pad, a tire pressure monitoring system, and multiple parking cameras with all-around sensors.

Performance and other features

Volvo S60 performance

Like every other Volvo vehicle, safety features on the new S60 are aplenty. Here are a few that come to mind – 6 airbags, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and semi-autonomous driving aids like lane assist and auto pilot assist. Of course, there are also ISOFIX anchor points and whiplash-resistant seatbelts.

Under the hood, the new Volvo S60 features a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder petrol engine that is offered in two separate sets of power tunes. At its very best, the four banger produces a maximum of 250hp and 350Nm of torque. And while front-wheel drive is standard on most S60 variants, the higher variants do get an all-wheel-drive system. The petrol engine in the S60 comes mated to a sleek shifting 8-speed automatic gearbox in the UAE. If need be, the Volvo S60 can go from a standstill to a speed of 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds, making it respectably fast for a luxury sedan such as this.

Volvo S60 rear

The seats on the new Volvo S60 are nice and accommodating, while the ride is fairly relaxing and comforting as well. In terms of its overall mileage, the new S60 consumes around 8.7 liters of fuel for every 100 km traveled.

Genesis G80

Genesis G80 front side

Genesis is the posh arm of the Korean auto giant Hyundai. And the G80 is its answer to the luxury midsize sedan segment that is mostly dominated by German cars like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, and Audi A6. Meanwhile, Genesis strives to present a strong and compelling all-rounder luxury sedan that is unlike its German rivals. Value-for-money, along with luxury, and an exciting design are some of the prime factors that set this luxury sedan apart from its competition.

In the UAE, the new Genesis G80 can cost upwards of AED 250,000, which still makes it one of the cheapest among all its German rivals. Of course, the existence of Cars24 means that you can find certified used cars for sale in Dubai for much less than that. The new Genesis G80 is available in three different variants, while its existence can be traced to sometime in early 2016. However, the latest iteration comes with a more polished exterior design, a more luxurious interior, up-to-date technology and multiple driving aids.

Exterior

Genesis G80 front

At first glance, the new Genesis G80 immediately screams boldness and sportiness without compromising on its luxury factor. The exterior design of the new G80 is not like most cars in its segment. It commands oodles of road presence with its stylish and chrome-studded exterior. As with most in-house models, the new G80 takes design inspiration from its elder sibling, the Genesis G90. On the front, you have a large shield-shaped front grille, sharp-looking twin LED headlamps with integrated turn Indicators, and a front bumper that houses a rather large air dam.

Genesis G80 rear side

At the side, the new G80 has a long sweeping roofline, smooth flowing bodylines, and massive but sporty-looking 20-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the rear of the sedan is stylish yet subtle with the split-LED tail lamps and multiple chrome inserts. In conclusion, the new Genesis G80 is one exceptionally-beautiful looking luxury sedan, and it somewhat resembles a Bentley, especially when it comes to its exterior layout and sporty proportions.

Genesis G80 side

The Genesis G80 is a pretty long and wide sedan, even for its class. It comes in at 4,995mm in length, 1,925mm in width, and 1,465mm in overall height. Then there is the wheelbase of the G8, which comes in at 3,010mm, while the boot space stands at 493 liters, which is sufficient but not the largest in the segment. In the UAE, customers can get the new Genesis G80 in shades such as Carbon Metal and Tasman Blue – both of which suit the G80 quite well.

Interior

Genesis G80 interior

If you think the exterior of the Genesis G80 looks niche and rich, you would love to learn that it is a fairly similar story on the inside as well. This is a proper luxury sedan with a high-class interior and high-tech features. The interior is completely distinctive and carries its own sense of charm – a lot of it coming from its elder sibling, the G90. As expected, the cabin feels extremely upmarket, and the quality of all the materials here is absolutely top-tier. Moreover, there is generous use of soft leather, high-class plastics and other premium components.

Genesis G80 cabin

Instead of using various touchscreens and funky touch-sensitive buttons, the new Genesis G80 uses a very minimalistic, streamlined dashboard design that looks and feels premium. Then there are the leather seats that offer generous support and are supremely comfortable overall while also featuring ventilation & heating functions. Space at the back is decent with sufficient headroom, though kneeroom is not as accommodating. Then again, the Genesis G80 isn't as spacious as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class or the Volvo S60. Therefore, the rear bench is suited best for only two passengers.

Genesis G80 features

One of the party tricks of the new G80 has to be its remote parking feature, using which, you can start the engine and move it into a parking spot or bring it out of one. Obviously, that is not all. The new Genesis G80 also comes loaded with modern tech and creature comfort features that punch way beyond its price tag. Some of these include acoustic glass, a 12.3-inch digital cluster with 3D display, a heads-up display, a massive 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a powerful & sweet-sounding 18-speaker Lexicon surround-sound audio system, ambient LED lighting, and multizone automatic climate control.

Performance and other features

Genesis G80 rear

The list of safety features on the new Genesis G80 include blind-spot monitoring, plus 10 airbags, active emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist control, rear occupant alert, rear cross-traffic alert, electronic stability control with traction control, and a surround-view camera with front & rear sensors.

Genesis G80 performance

In UAE, the new Genesis G80 is presented in three drivetrain options. The lower trim model comes equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 296hp and an immense 422Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the higher trims come mated to a spicier 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo petrol engine that makes the best of its 300hp and a maximum of 530Nm of peak torque. The 2.5T G80 variant comes only with a rear-wheel-drive option, while the 3.5T G80 variant comes with the option of both rear-wheel drive as well as all-wheel-drive configurations.

Genesis G80 design

Power is channeled to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, which is common to all the trims. The G80 has a curb weight of approximately 1,785 kilograms, though the twin-turbo V6 motor means that this luxury sedan can go from a standstill to 100 kmph in just 5.1 seconds. Whereas, full-throttle will take you to an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph, which really isn’t that bad for a luxury sedan.

As the power figures and 0 to 100 kmph timing suggests, the performance on the Genesis G80 is nothing to scoff at. This sedan responds to quick throttle inputs quite well, plus the 8-speed automatic gearbox is extremely smooth and doesn’t interfere in everyday driving duties. However, the Genesis G80’s first priority remains comfort and luxury. The engine is supremely refined and the overall cabin insulation is top-notch. Also, despite missing air suspension, the G80 offers a plush ride and excellent cushioning over poor road conditions. But owing to its lower athletic driving dynamics, the G80 isn’t very enthusiast-friendly; its German rivals offer much better driving enthusiasm.

Genesis G80 UAE

In terms of its fuel efficiency, the top-spec all-wheel-drive Genesis G80 is the least efficient variant. It consumes around 11.9 liters of fuel for every 100 km or 8.4 kmpl. Buyers seeking more fuel efficiency should opt for the 2.5-liter variant, which consumes close to 9.4 liters of fuel for every 100 km or 10.6 kmpl.

Overall, the Genesis G80 makes for an extremely compelling option in the midsize luxury sedan segment, especially with its value-for-money proposition. It grabs attention on the outside, feels luxurious on the inside, and is packed with modern technology and safety features. However, this sedan is not for someone with a penchant for driving enthusiasm.

BMW 3-Series

BMW 3-Series front side

BMW is one of those brands that creates packages that cater to both enthusiasts and luxury sedan buyers alike. In this case, the 3-Series is a prime example of that. It is one of the last remaining soldiers against an army of softly-tuned, only comfort-oriented sedans. The 3-Series is a complete all-rounder it is a package that driver-oriented buyers just can’t resist. The BMW 3-Series looks stylish from the outside, feels exceptionally premium on the inside, and drives nothing less than a proper sports sedan.

Launched back in the mid-1970s, the 3-Series is one of the most popular and well-liked luxury sedans in the world. With seven generations behind it, the 3-Series is still one of the most enigmatic luxury sedans in the world. A good example will cost over 300,000 dirhams, which is certainly not a small amount. However, if you want to buy an affordable car in the UAE, then Cars24 has a wide variety of used cars in Ajman and a good lot of old cars for sale in Umm Al Quwain.

BMW 3-Series colors

The BMW 3-Series faced a comprehensive generation update in 2019, which made the 3-Series exceedingly more desirable by offering a more luxurious interior, cabin space, and much better performance metrics. Obviously, with a car this famous and appreciated, the 3-Series has barely any trouble finding buyers. Simply put, in the UAE, if you have this BMW, you are not doing that bad for yourself.

Exterior

BMW 3-Series front

With the update coming up in 2019, the seventh generation of the 3-Series looks fresh, mean, and attractively sporty. Being a new BMW, the focal point of the front design is the new kidney grille, which is larger than the previous-gen model and is now a single-piece unit. The aggression of the front end is defined by the four frowning lines on the hood which converges into the grille. The shape of the LED headlights has become sharper and are more defined by the aggressive detailing all around.

BMW 3-Series side

The bumpers are quite busy too, with the large air dams at the front and the rising cheekbones that are defined by the vertical creases that. These intrude into the fancy BMW Laser headlights to create a notch, while the DRLs look fancy as ever. Some of the design details on this all-new 3-Series draw inspiration from cars way back on the BMW timeline. For instance, the little notch in the headlamp is inspired by the E46. As for the rear design, it also looks nicely designed with its sculpted-out tail lamps, sporty-looking bumper and twin chrome-plated exhaust pipes. Meanwhile, the new BMW 3-Series sits on 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

BMW 3-Series rear side

The 3-Series carries its typical low-slung stance and the long, loose, yet short rear boot profile. Glance on it from the side, and you will realize that this sedan has grown much larger than before. In fact, the new BMW 3-Series is now 4,713mm long, 1,827mm wide, and 1,442mm tall. Meanwhile, it has a has an overall wheelbase of 2,851mm and comes with a minimum boot capacity of 480 liters. Some of the exterior colors available on the new 3-Series sedan in the UAE include Mineral Grey, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Sunset Orange, and Mediterranean Blue amongst others.

Interior

BMW 3-Series interior

The cabin on the new BMW 3-Series is a big step up from the previous-gen model. It is quite beautiful and sporty how the cabin instantly wraps around you the moment you get into the driver’s seat, providing you a clear view ahead of the road. This being a BMW, the cabin will also make you feel like you are actually connected to the car, as you are a part of the whole design from the get-go. Therefore, you will feel like you are an integral part of the whole drivetrain, and not sitting atop one.

BMW 3-Series features

BMW has been known to create modern yet highly-functional cabin designs, and this new 3-Series is no different from that perspective. While it may not appeal to someone looking for a more funky dashboard design and lots of sweeping lines everywhere, the upmarket but relatively-restrained styling will definitely attract those who like to appreciate quality materials and a great fit & finish. I mean, it is almost impossible to find a fault in this new Bimmer’s interior quality, it is almost kissing perfection.

BMW 3-Series cabin

In typical BMW fashion, the cabin design of the new 3-Series is really driver-centric, while the ergonomics are spot-on, the dashboard is well laid out, and all the controls fall easily at hand. Better yet, even space at the back is fairly decent – something that the 3 wasn’t famous for before. Overall, this is an extremely well thought-out and well-built space to spend time in.

BMW 3-Series gearbox

Key features on the new 3-Series include stuff such as BMW's automatic Laser LED headlamps, a power sunroof, a heads-up display, a wireless phone charging pad, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats with power adjustments & ventilation, plus BMW’s latest-gen i-Drive infotainment system with gesture controls.

Performance and other features

BMW 3-Series UAE

The new BMW 3-Series also come equipped with a digital assistant, Park Assist with Reversing Assist, a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automated emergency braking, lane assist, blind spot monitoring system, a tire pressure monitor, and multiple airbags.

BMW 3-Series performance

The new 3-Series’ aggressive design complements its performance quite well. In the UAE, this BMW primarily comes in two avatars. There is the 330i which features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that churns out 255hp and 400Nm of torque, spinning the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 330i can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 kmph. As for the M340i xDrive, it gets a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six motor that develops a healthy 382hp and 500Nm of max torque. It too comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, but is now equipped with all-wheel drive.

BMW 3-Series rear

The result of this extra power and grip means that the BMW M340i xDrive can go from a standstill to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds. However, its top whack is also limited to 250 kmph, though you will get there faster than in the 330i.

BMW has worked fairly hard on the new 3-Series’ aerodynamic capabilities. In fact, with a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd, this new model is more aerodynamic than BMW’s flagship sports car, the i8, and the all-new 8-Series Coupe. Derived from the 7-Series and 5-Series, the new 3-Series is also based on BMW’s latest Cluster Architecture platform, which makes the sedan quite light and improves its overall handling manners. Further enhancing the driving characteristics of the 3 are features like dynamic damper control, variable steering control, and brake energy regeneration.

BMW 3-Series wheels

Of course, the punchy 382hp straight-six engine in the M340i along with the 3’s dynamic handling characteristics makes this luxury sedan an absolute hoot to drive. Being rear-wheel drive (330i), it is tail-happy when you want it to, and really quite precise if you want it to. But don’t mistake the 3-Series to be just sporty and not comfortable, as it is still a proper German luxury sedan. Put it in Comfort mode, and the 3 series will glide over most bumps and bad patches of road without much complaint. However, there will still be some tire noise that enters the cabin, especially at highway speeds.

Audi A8

Audi A8 colors

When it comes to luxury cars, the luxury limousine segment not just furthers the boundaries for automobiles but also expands the horizons for science and technology. And among the big names that occupy that niche area of the auto industry is none other than Audi, with the flagship and fourth-generation A8 sedan being the prime example of that. The. This luxury sedan truly packs some serious technology and autonomous driving features that sets it apart from most cars in the segment.

In the UAE, a brand-new Audi A8 (Long Wheelbase) can cost as much as 460,000 dirhams for a top-end variant. Then again, Cars24 exists for the sole purpose of offering certified pre-owned cars in Abu Dhabi or old cars for sale in Sharjah for far less. Over the years, Audi has kept refining the A8’s styling and mechanical aspects to the point where it now gets in line with the brand’s best and latest model line-up.

Audi A8 UAE

The new Audi A8 limousine is offered in two different versions in the UAE - the 55 TFSI Quattro and 60 TFSI Quattro. Moreover, buyers can then choose between Standard Wheelbase (SWB) and Long Wheelbase (LWB). It is fair to ascertain that the latter is mainly for those who would rather leave the driving part to someone else.

Exterior

Audi A8 front

The new Audi A8 boasts a subtle yet very distinctive exterior design, typical of all other and newer Audi models. On the front, you have a bold and large hexagonal grille, sharp and sophisticated LED headlamps with dynamic LED DRLs, and a neatly designed bumper. On the side, it is all business-as-usual with straight lines and tight creases that extend around the A8’s huge body.

Audi A8 side

Having said that, this sedan has an unmistakable Audi-like window line and a large rear overhang. At the rear, the new A8 sports wraparound LED tail lamps with interesting details built into it, plus an LED strip highlighting the width of the car. The A8 car sits on 19-inch alloy wheels, though the S Line trim can be had with 21-inch rims. Dimensions-wise, the new Audi A8 (LWB) comes in at 5,302mm long, 1,945mm wide, 1,485mm high, and has an overall wheelbase base of 3,128mm.

Audi A8 rear side

Furthermore, the new A8 has a minimum boot capacity of 520 liters. When it comes to its color options in the UAE, the new Audi A8 is available in Terra Grey, Monsun Grey, Mythos Black, Vesuv Grey, Mamba Black, Moon Light, Nightblue, and Cuvée Silver. Overall, the exterior styling of this generation of Audi’s flagship sedan is more bold and sporty than the previous model. On top of that, Audi’s beautiful and eye-catching exterior lights and its front grille truly make a spectacular statement.

Interior

Audi A8 interior

There is absolutely no doubt, the cabin of the new Audi A8 is exceptionally well-built, with only the finest materials being used on almost every surface. Even in this class of car, this is by far the one of the most futuristic interiors you will ever find. The A8’s interior overwhelms you with its huge touchscreen systems and capacitive touch-control buttons. You will not spot many analog buttons here – definitely not any analogue gauges.

Audi A8 virtual cockpit

In place of traditional instruments, the new A8 gets a 10.3-inch upper display and an 8.6-inch lower MMI touch panel… Of course, there is also Audi’s fantastic Virtual Cockpit system too. The motorized AC vents gently roll open when you press the touch control buttons, though using these touch-sensitive buttons whilst on the move can be a bit of a faff. Furthermore, the large but shiny touchscreens are quick to collect fingerprints, so you will have to keep a microfiber cloth handy at all times.

Audi A8 features

For a full business-class-like experience, you have to be on the new A8’s rear seats. This is where this luxury sedan actually shines, especially in the Long Wheelbase format as the rear seat become your ultimate executive lounge. While a standard bench seat is available, this is an area that should be equipped with only two extremely comfortable but individual seats. Furthermore, due to the tall center console that runs between both the executive chairs, the feeling of exclusivity is high.

Audi A8 cabin

Some of the notable features on the new A8’s rear seats begin with massage function, heating, ventilation, a powered sunshade, powered recline functionality, and a footboard that pops out when the front passenger seat is pushed all the way forward. All these functions plus many others can be controlled through a removable touchscreen tablet, which is pretty nifty. Furthermore, there are dedicated detachable entertainment screens that also feature internet connectivity.

Audi A8 safety features

The new Audi A8 also offers a bunch of high-tech equipment and occupant comfort features. Some of the most impressive ones include automatic laser headlamps, remote parking using a smartphone, twin digital infotainment touchscreen units, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit driver’s display, dedicated rear entertainment screens, a 360-degree parking camera, powered seats with massage, heating and ventilation functions, four-zone automatic climate control, adaptive air suspension, an optional 1,920-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system, rear-wheel steering, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless phone charging.

Performance and other features

Audi A8 performance

The new Audi A8 also rolls out with the level three autonomous driving technologies, depending on the region, of course. This carries with it a heap of advanced driver assistance, security, and automatic parking system tech that really makes this luxury sedan quite a catch for those who love state-of-the-art capabilities. Some of the safety features in the A8 include 8 airbags, adaptive cruise control with automated emergency braking, self-parking, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, and auto-pilot assist.

Audi A8L

Powering the range-topping Audi A8 60 TFSI is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that develops a maximum of 460hp and 660Nm of peak torque. Buyers seeking more performance should definitely choose the 60 TFSI over the standard 55 TFSI variant. With Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the A8 assures optimum traction right from the word “go”, along with a smooth yet responsive powertrain. In the case of the 55 TFSI model, with its 340hp V6 engine, acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph takes just 5.7 seconds. That will be plenty enough for most people.

Audi A8 rear

However, the 60 TFSI model can achieve the same feat in 4.5 seconds, which is a really good time when you consider this limo weighs in at nearly 2.1 tons! The top speed of the Audi A8, however, is limited to 250 kmph, irrespective of the engine under the hood. The A8 is also surprisingly easy to drive in the city, with good visibility, light steering, easy controls, plus loads of autonomous aids to help you out. Further helping maneuverability is the rear-wheel steering, while the adaptive air suspension provides excellent ride quality without being floaty. In terms of its fuel economy, the Audi A8 60 TFSI consumes 10.8 liters of fuel for every 100 km.

Lexus LS500

Lexus LS500 front side

Lexus, unarguably, makes some of the most successful and appreciated luxury cars in the world. From the time of the original LS sedan back in 1989, this niche Japanese automaker has been dishing out incredibly well-built and posh models – the LS being the flagship. Today, the all-new fifth-generation model comes with all the latest bells & whistles that the brand has to offer, with the top-end LS500 Titanium being the most decorated in the range. Costing AED 480,000, the new Lexus LS500 is not what you would call “affordable”, but it is certainly worth its price tag.

However, if you want something that costs way less than that, then you would love to know that Cars24 has well-priced old cars for sale in Ras Al Khaimah and second-hand cars in Fujairah. As for the Lexus LS500, making its case even sweeter is the fact that Lexus is world-renowned for its fabulous customer service. This is true even in the UAE, and something that you will really come to appreciate throughout your ownership of this luxury sedan.

Exterior

Lexus LS500 front

After taking a first look at the LS500, it won’t take long for you to notice the changes that Lexus has made to its flagship sedan. Compared to its more bland and restrained precursor, this latest-gen avatar looks flashier and a lot more prominent out on the road. Leading at the front of the new LS500 is the brand’s huge spindle grille, razor-sharp multi-pod LED headlamps with sleek LED running elements, a beefy front bumper, and a well-sculpted hood.

Lexus LS500 side

The large yet muscular side of the LS500 showcases a swooping window line, 20-inch alloy rims, and sizeable overhangs at the front & rear. Meanwhile, the rear of the Lexus LS500 comes with twin exhaust tips that are finished in chrome, stylish LED tail lamps with sequential LED indicators, and a fairly chiseled rear bumper with a faux diffuser. Those who love a classy yet modern outlook will likely take the top-end Titanium trim of the LS500, since it comes with quite a lot of chrome detailing.

Lexus LS500 rear side

In the UAE, the new Lexus LS500 is offered in colors such as White Nova GF, Heat Blue CL, Graphite Black, Sonic Titanium, Sonic Quartz, Gin-Ei Luster, and Red M.C. Speaking about the exterior, the LS500 takes up quite a lot of space along the curb, coming in at 5,235mm in length, 1,900mm in width, 1,450mmin height, and boasting a wheelbase of 3,124mm. On another note, this luxury sedan is not the best in its class when it comes to its boot space – featuring only 480 liters overall.

Interior

Lexus LS500 interior

Lexus has always been known for its extremely comfortable and well-made interiors in the auto industry – a trademark it carries with the new LS500 as well. Everything in this cabin has been built with a purpose in mind and using top-notch materials, so finding faults is almost impossible. The LS500’s interior is designed keeping Japanese hospitality as its inspiration – Lexus calls it “Omotenashi”. Meanwhile, traditional Japanese construction techniques have been applied using the skills of Kiriko artisans and Takumi craftsmen from start to finish.

Lexus LS500 interior design

The end result of all these labor-intensive techniques and meticulous attention to detail is an interior that will satisfy almost anyone. When you further add the rich leather, ultra-comfortable seats, and great cabin insulation into the mix, the Lexus LS500 comes across as a near-perfect luxury sedan. And even though its boot is not the most spacious, the LS500 has enough space to carry at least six travel bags. However, you got to keep in mind that the fixed rear seats mean that you will not be able push items from the cargo bay into the cabin.

Lexus LS500 rear seats

The wonderfully-designed seats are supremely comfortable and come with Shiatsu massage function with 7 different settings, and are also heated and cooled. Those at the rear are also provided dual 11.6-inch entertainment screens that support Blu-ray, SD cards and HDMI inputs. Up front, the LS500 gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Further connectivity is enabled thanks to a Wi-Fi hotspot, while Alexa voice input is present as well.

Performance and other features

Lexus LS500 features

The new Lexus LS500 comes loaded with plenty of passive & active safety features, which includes a Pre Crash Safety System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a heads-up display, all-around parking sensors with surround-view cameras, and a whole bunch of airbags. Of course, the luxury sedan does get ISOFIX anchor points at the back and pre-tensioning seatbelts all around.

Lexus LS500 cockpit

Unlike some of the other luxury barges on this list, the Lexus LS500 does not get a turbocharged four-popper under its hood. Instead, the LS comes with a 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine that is good for 416hp and 599Nm of peak torque. This tried & tested six-cylinder motor comes mated to an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission that blends the gears smoothly and effectively. With a top speed of 250 kmph and a naught to 100 kmph time of 4.9 seconds, the LS500 is not slow by any means.

Lexus LS500 rear

To make its case even better, the LS500 comes equipped with adaptive variable suspension that makes for an absolutely sublime ride over almost any type of pavement. On the other hand, there is body roll, especially if you push this 2.1-ton land yacht around corners. Take it for what it is, which is a full-size luxury sedan with ample interior space and a silky-smooth driving experience, and you will not be disappointed by the Lexus LS500 at all!

Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Mercedes-Benz S-Class front side

The S-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship sedan, and it is arguably the best car in the world. For the longest of time, the S-Class has been the beacon as being the epitome of everything luxury – be it its sumptuous interiors, high-tech features, tremendous luxury, and state-of-the-art safety technology – not to mention impeccable standards of sophistication and comfort that it brings into play. With a price tag that can hover around AED 700,000 in the UAE, the latest generation of the S-Class might be an expensive purchase, but truth be told, it is worth every single penny you will spend.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class top-down

Globally, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class made its debut in the year 1954 and was nicknamed the 'Ponton'. Powered by a modest 114hp engine, it was the fastest production car in Germany for quite some time. Over the next few years, the S-Class understandably witnessed multiple generation changes, each ushering in a significant revolution in the automotive industry. For the 2021 model year, Mercedes-Benz launched the seventh-generation or W223 model of the S-Class, packed with some impressive new features and futuristic tech. And except for the three-pointed logo, nothing on this car is identical to the previous-generation model.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class colors

In the UAE, the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan is offered in multiple different variants that include more than one engine option. Obviously, while there are entry-level variants that are relatively affordable, you will probably want to go for the fully-loaded S580 which comes with plenty of cool tech and features. Of course, there are enough cheaper options on Cars24 – from certified used cars in Dubai to second-hand cars for sale in Umm Al Quwain.

Exterior

Mercedes-Benz S-Class design

The exterior design of the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is completely new, and it shows. While it can be a bit polarizing for some, especially for a car whose previous generation just screamed elegance in every sense. But a more optimistic approach says that the new S-Class looks really contemporary, while also looking sporty and visually appealing overall. On top of all that, while there are some who may find it a touch too flashy, this S-Class is still “the best or nothing”.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class front

With so many exterior factors to look at, the all-new S-Class shows its worth the moment you pull up to any location that is posh or upscale. Some of the key exterior highlights on this luxury sedan include ultra-high-range & intelligent LED headlights, a massive chrome grille, smooth flowing body lines, soft-close doors with pop-out handles, and suave 20-inch alloy wheels. Then there are gorgeous LED tail lamps that really add to this sedan’s charm, while the overall rear portion looks classy yet sophisticated.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class rear side

As far as its dimensions are concerned, the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class (Long Wheelbase) comes in at 5,289mm long, 1,954mm wide, and 1,503mm high. Then there is this sedan’s wheelbase of 3,216mm. Meanwhile, the boot capacity of the new S-Class has a capacity of 535 liters, which is better than some rivals. It is safe to say that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is one of those luxury sedans that truly says that you have arrived! In terms of its color options, the S-Class can be painted in Obsidian Black Metallic, Designo Diamond White Bright, Designo Kalahari Gold Metallic, Designo Selenite Grey Magno, Nautic Blue Metallic, Rubellite Red, and Mojave Silver.

Interior

Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior

It is not surprising when you actually step inside the cabin of the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, that you come to realize where all that money has been spent. Unquestionably, this is one of the most luxurious cabins around. This new S-Class leaves behind the old car in a way where it blends suave craftsmanship with modern-day technology. On that note, one of the first thing that strikes you in this cabin is the massive 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, oriented in a portrait format, and replaces almost 27 analog instruments.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class features

The touchscreen display floats against a panel of high-quality wood that runs across the dash, looking fabulous whilst doing so. Speaking of quality, the interior of the new S-Class uses only the finest of materials, crafted in the most beautiful manner with immense attention to detail. There is a reason why Mercedes-Benz calls the S-Class the best car in the world – it truly offers spectacular levels of luxury and state-of-the-art features without compromising on the status that owning an S-Class always used to be associated with.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class cabin

The front seats of the S-Class are absolutely splendid. Then again, it is the all-important backseats where this Mercedes makes itself known and felt as a full-size luxury sedan. While the UAE may not be like many other markets, several S-Class owners would love to spend most of their time in the rear, and this is the place where this car excels bar none. You have acres of legroom along with excellent under-thigh support and multi-functional capabilities built right into the seats.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class front seats

Speaking of which, the seats in the new S-Class are fantastic. They are wrapped in exclusive Nappa leather that is as soft as a baby’s face. They are exceptionally comfortable, one of the most sumptuous and accommodating in the market. From up to 10 different massage functions, heating, ventilation to electrical adjustment, you have everything that you could ever ask for from a car seat.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class rear seats

Things pan out to be even more interesting if you happen to be on the rear-right seat, a.k.a. the ‘boss seat’. You can send the front passenger seat all the way forward, recline your backrest up to 43.5 degrees, and pop out the leg rest – all of this at the touch of a button.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior features

In terms of features, the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class throws everything luxury-related at you. Some of the most important ones here include adaptive air suspension, a 7.0-inch tablet controller, dual 11.0-inch entertainment screens at the back, a mind-blowing a 31-speaker Burmester high-end sound system, dedicated multi-zone automatic climate control functions, powered rear sunblinds, wireless phone charging, electrically adjustable seats with massage, heating, and ventilation functions, a 12.8-inch touchscreen head unit with connected features and Merc’s MBUX system with voice command, a 64-color ambient lighting setup, a 12.3-inch driver’s display with augmented reality, and a panoramic sunroof.

Performance and other features

Mercedes-Benz S-Class safety features

The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes packed with a boat-load of safety nannies that ensure that you do not end up in a nasty situation. Some of these include features such as 10 airbags, radar-guided cruise control, collision detection with automated emergency braking, active lane-assist with active steering, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, a 360-degree interactive parking camera system, a tire pressure monitor, electronic stability & traction control, ABS with EBD, front & rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX anchorages.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class performance

Under the hood, the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class can be had with quite a few powerplants. However, if you really want to get a move-on, then the range-topping S580 is the best bet there is (apart from the AMG ones, of course). It comes with a heart-warming 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 that pumps out 503hp and 700Nm of maximum twisting force. In the UAE, this eight-cylinder engine is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox that then spins all four wheels via Merc’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class side

While it tips the scales at over 2 tons, the S580 4MATIC can scramble from 0 to 100 kmph in matter of just 4.4 seconds! For a luxo-barge like this, that is a pretty admirable time. Of course, as it is with these German marque’s, Mercedes-Benz has electronically capped the S-Class’s top speed to 250 kmph. And no doubt, you will get to triple-digit speeds sans any fuss or drama – that is the way of the Sonderklasse (i.e., the S-Class). And thanks to the amount of noise insulation in this car, the cabin of the S-Class undeniably feels like a luxury sedan of the highest order.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class

In the UAE, customers can also choose the S450 4MATIC that comes with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that develops 367hp and 500Nm. This S-Class, though a base variant, does 100 kmph from a standstill in a mere 5.1 seconds, which is really good for the ‘poverty-pack’ avatar of the world’s best car. Then there is the S500 4MATIC, which comes powered by the same 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, but this unit puts out 435hp of max power and 520Nm of peak torque. With all-wheel-drive capability, the S500 does 0-100 kmph in 4.9 seconds. Either way, all these variants are limited to a top whack 250 kmph.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class wheels

The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class rides on air suspension, thus providing an extremely supple and cushy ride. The adaptive dampers work brilliantly, and the car does not even remotely feel floaty even at high speeds. At the same time, it works its way through road imperfections without creating any drama in the cabin. All versions are fitted with a 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard. The most economical variant of the S-Class is the S450, which consumes around 8.3 liters of fuel for every 100 km. Oh, not to mention that the new S-Class comes with a mild-hybrid tech (called EQ Boost) that improves fuel economy and performance.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid UAE

With a price tag of nearly 740,000 dirhams in the UAE, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most expensive and powerful variant of the German brand’s stellar sedan. While the Panamera might have been around since 2009, its fame wasn’t guaranteed during its early days. However, it did not take long for this rather controversial performance luxury sedan to take over the world’s upscale car market. There are several different variants of this Porsche, though if you really want the best of the best, then the top-end Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is the one to go for.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid front

Having said that, not everyone has pockets that are deep enough to buy and maintain a brand-new Porsche Panamera. However, that is not such a bad thing as Cars24 has an extensive inventory of certified used cars in Abu Dhabi and many more second-hand cars in Sharjah that are available for way less money. But no matter how you look at it, the latest-generation Porsche Panamera is one of the best-selling cars from the posh German automaker. Today, it ranks as one of the top luxury sedans in the UAE.

Exterior

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid front side

When compared to the first-gen Panamera, the latest model emphasizes its sharp and sporty exterior in a far more convincing manner. The coupe-like silhouette of the Porsche Panamera deals it an extremely urbane and svelte look, something that is not seen often in the world of the luxury sedan. It is its dynamic stance that really lends the Panamera its sporty demeanor, which makes this sedan stand out without much trouble. The sculpted front end of the new Panamera features a sporty bumper with large air intakes, and ultra-modern LED headlamps with the brand’s signature LED DRLs.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid rear side

The top-end Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid gets ‘E-Hybrid’ branding on the front doors, 21-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) for added stopping power, flared wheel arches, extended side skirts, and a large rear overhang. At the back, there are quad exhaust pipes that give company to Porsche’s enigmatic LED light bar, which goes hand-in-hand with an active rear spoiler for the ultimate sporty appeal.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid rear

Customers in the UAE can pick from one of over a dozen exterior colors for their Panamera. Some of the well-known shades include Carrara White Metallic, Jet Black Metallic, Cherry Metallic, Gentian Blue Metallic, Copper Ruby Metallic, and Carmine Red. Sticking to the exterior, the Porsche Panamera comes in at 5,049mm in length, 1,937mm in width, 1,427mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,950mm. However, due to its coupe-like styling and electrical hardware under the body, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid’s boot space is limited to a mere 403 liters – far less than most of its rivals.

Interior

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid interior

If you want more room on the inside, then the Executive trim will be your best bet. It is six inches longer than regular Panamera variants, which means that there is even more legroom at the back. Of course, you do sit quite low in the Panamera’s cabin, unlike in any other luxury sedan. This will bode well with those who want to feel the sportiness whilst being comforted by this car’s luxurious interior.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid cockpit

The Panamera can be had with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit that comes with Apple CarPlay, though there is no Android Auto or a wireless charging pad. You do get a heads-up display, which works really well, while rear sunshades keep occupants from complaining about too much sunlight. Further assurance regarding this sedan’s luxury factor is provided by the beautifully executed and neatly integrated leather upholstery, supported by high-grade metal and carbon-fiber trim wherever possible.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid rear seats

The leather sports seats in the Panamera also come with some added convenience features such as heating, cooling & massaging. Meanwhile, the equipment list of the Panamera takes into account tech such as adaptive cruise control, adaptive suspension, sports exhaust, Porsche Dynamic Light System, four-zone automatic climate control, Traffic Jam Assist, a 21-speaker Burmester surround-sound system, Porsche Advanced Cockpit, four drive modes with Launch Control, paddle shifters, and rear-axle steering among many more. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, the Panamera will get some really cool and futuristic features.

Performance and other features

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid features

The new Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is powered by a 100kW electric motor plus a sweet-sounding 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine. In total, you will have 700hp and 870Nm of torque under your right foot, while Porsche’s 8-speed PDK gearbox manages the grunt and moves it all four wheels. Thanks to a brilliantly-tuned launch control system, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid takes only 3.2 seconds to hit 100 kmph from a standstill. And with a top speed of 315 kmph, this is the fastest luxury sedan on this list.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid performance

Of course, despite its tremendous performance metrics, you should be aware of this sedan’s 2.3-ton mass at all times. The again, Porsche has designed and refined the Panamera to such an extent, that you will almost never notice its weight. Moreover, the rear-axle steering ensures that the Panamera’s maneuverability remains great at low and high speeds. This means that this large luxury sedan feels nimble even when you are driving around town, though it never actually feels small in any way from behind the wheel.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid rear spoiler

If you really want to make the most out of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid’s pool of power, switch it into Sports Plus mode. This will keep the car at its lowest ride setting, as the air suspension gets into its most aggressive mode and tightens up the ride as well. Meanwhile, the Normal mode exists when you just want to putter around in the city whilst enjoying a fairly relaxed and comfortable ride. Even then, thanks to that electric motor, throttle response remains sharp, and the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid will dart forward without much hesitation.

Exterior

When compared to the first-gen Panamera, the latest model emphasizes its sharp and sporty exterior in a far more convincing manner. The coupe-like silhouette of the Porsche Panamera deals it an extremely urbane and svelte look, something that is not seen often in the world of the luxury sedan. It is its dynamic stance that really lends the Panamera its sporty demeanor, which makes this sedan stand out without much trouble. The sculpted front end of the new Panamera features a sporty bumper with large air intakes, and ultra-modern LED headlamps with the brand’s signature LED DRLs.

Interior
