The city is known for being home to some of the most avid luxury car collectors and it’s not uncommon to see your dream car zooming down the road. Let’s take a look at a few iconic cars that define the city of Dubai.
1. Bugatti Veyron
The Bugatti Veyron used to be the fastest car in the world until quite recently when it was overtaken by its own successor, the Bugatti Chiron Sport. One of the most popular cars in Dubai, the Bugatti Veyron boasts a full carbon-fibre body and an 8.0 litre W16, 64v 2xDOHC quad-turbocharged petrol engine. You are bound to find one of these at Jumeirah Beach or outside the Dubai Mall.
2. Diamond Celestial Rolls-Royce Phantom
The Rolls-Royce Celestial Phantom was showcased at the Dubai International Motor Show. This particular Rolls-Royce was made specifically for the show and is fitted with 446 diamonds. More than 1,000 fiber optic lights in the roof of the car emulate driving under a night sky and were arranged to reflect the night sky on January 1st, 2003 in Goodwood, where the car & brand is from. The beautiful interiors and detailing are definitely breathtaking.
3. Devel Sixteen
The 5007 HP Devel Sixteen production version was unveiled at Dubai International Motor Show 2017. This hypercar is truly pushing the boundaries of what is possible. The engine features an 81 mm Quad Turbo and generates massive power- 5007 Horsepower and 3757 lb-ft of torque. This car claims to have the power of ten supercars and surpasses every other car in terms of performance and
power. The company aims to hit the 300mph mark when it begins the testing phase. The power output of the Devel is 5 times more than that of a Bugatti Veyron.
4. Brabus Rocket 900
For over four decades, the BRABUS brand has taken standard Mercedes-Benz automobiles and turned them into high-performance supercars. The Mercedes Benz S65 AMG is an extremely powerful car, having a V12 engine with two turbos attached to it which turned into the Brabus Rocket 900. It has a gold-colored exterior, and the power is made by a V-12 engine that produces nearly 888 hp and 885 foot-pounds of torque. The rocket 900 Desert Gold edition of this car was showcased in their store in the UAE.
5. Lamborghini Aventador Cop Car
The Lamborghini Aventador being part of the Dubai police fleet truly established the status of Dubai as one of the most powerful, iconic, and clearly the fastest police force in the world. This £294,000 car is in the police fleet complete with their police pattern paint and police lights on the roof. The police force has multiple supercars in their fleet, including a Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari, and a Bentley, among others.
6. Solid Gold Lamborghini
Lamborghini is known to craft cars coveted by millionaires and celebrities. But like everything in Dubai, this particular car was beyond anything ever imagined. This Lamborghini Aventador was to be carved out of a solid block of gold, the finished car incorporating about 55 pounds. Needless to say, it was an expensive car at $7.5 million, but it was sure to make heads turn. The creator of the car - German engineer Robert Gulpen of RGE Robert Gulpen Engineering auctioned it off and was to pledge the money to charity. A prototype of the car was used for the auction, but there are no reports of whether this car was actually made. The $7.5 million solid gold Lamborghini will always be an urban legend.
