Hyundai Elantra Car Buying Guide

The Hyundai Elantra has always received good reviews in Australia, offering an economical and reliable small 4-door sedan and, since 2000, a five-door hatch model with features tailored for Australian driving conditions.

Since 2016, Hyundai has progressively added models to the Elantra range, meaning that used Elantras are now on the market in SR and Elite versions (dropped in 2018) and Active, Go and the turbocharged Sports and Sports Premium versions. Each generation has added features which has contributed to Hyundai"s reputation for innovation.

Features that are standard in sixth generation Elantras onwards are cruise control, a reversing camera, a sound system with Aux and USB inputs, Bluetooth connectivity, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a colour touchscreen for controls.

The Elantra has six airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, height and reach adjustment for the steering wheel and headlights that come on automatically in low light, and it is rated highly for both safety and comfort.

The Elantra Go is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, while the Active only comes with an automatic. The 1.6-litre Elantra Sport and Sport Premium come in either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch auto.

Dependent on the model and generation of Elantra you are interested in, a range of other features are included.
