The five-seat Mercedes-Benz B180 isn't particularly big on the outside, but it packs in plenty of space inside. That’s one of the big differentiators between the B-Class and the smaller A-Class.
Underneath, the B180 shares plenty with the A180.
From 2012 until 2018 that means a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that has its focus on pulling power and around town efficiency over outright power.
From 2019 onwards a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo maintains that flexibility in the engine but adds a fraction more power.
Neither is particularly powerful, although they’re adept at maintaining pace on a freeway or for zipping around town.
Like the A-Class, the Mercedes-Benz B180 has a strong focus on safety, with excellent occupant protection and an array of advanced driver assistance features to help avoid a crash.
The B180 is also quite dynamic through corners for what is a spacious and practical hatchback.
