Bentley dominated the news in the ultra-luxury car market in 2005 with the Continental Flying Spur. Although it began as a four-door variant of Bentley Continental, the carmakers consciously moved to make Flying Spur a standalone brand. After dropping the word Continental with second-generation models, Flying Spur today - in its third generation - has evolved into an aggressive and lavish brand.
Bentley Flying Spur comes in two variants that you can pick from - V8 and W12. The 4-liter V8 engine is smaller compared to the bulky twin-turbocharged 6-liter W12. The V8 is 107 kg lighter than its more powerful sibling but racier and louder.
Both the petrol engines come with a smooth, 8-speed, ZF dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The V8 variant has a better fuel efficiency of 12.5kmpl as against W12’s 10.2kmpl. However, W12 shines in other metrics; it comes with a power of 626 hp and torque of 664 lb-ft, while V8 shows the power of 542 hp and torque of 568 lb-ft.
With Flying Spur W12, you reach 60 mph in an impressive 3.7 seconds and can go up to a top speed of 207 mph. The V8 engine’s top speed is 198 mph, while the sprint from zero to 60 mph is achieved in 4 seconds.
Flying Spur recently got its first Hybrid version joining the league of electric vehicles. The Flying Spur Hybrid Odyssean Edition has a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged petrol engine along with a 100kW electric motor. It boasts a power capacity of 536 bhp and a torque of 750 nm. With a 2.9 It packs solid power to go from zero to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 177mph.

Bentley is a brand that makes you stand out, and its Flying Spur doesn’t fall short of expectations. Its imposing and opulent presence is elevated by a sleeker design. The new exterior of the Flying Spur gives it a classic and stately character. The long sedan flaunts majestic lines drawing its muscular body with gorgeous Matrix LED headlights and a tall grille upfront. The exterior is complete with two options for 21-inch wheel designs and a 22-inch-option exclusively for the Mulliner collection.
The interiors of Flying Spur is a pure work of art blended with luxury and comfort. It features 3D leather quilting for doors and rear panels - a first-of-its-kind. Flying Spur oozes detailed craftsmanship with soft leather, luxurious carpet, and a mindblowing finish. Although it replicated the dashboard design of the Continental, Flying Spur sports Bentley’s unique, three-sided rotating display. It also includes active All-Wheel steering.
Flying Spur comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and an elegant 3-dial analog system. When you start the machine, the veneer rotates to reveal the touchscreen, which can be rotated again for the old-school gauges. Further, the screen is accessible through a remote system. Mood lighting is yet another cool feature that lets you decide the color of the accent ring.
The safety kit of Bentley Flying Spur includes four airbags, a blindspot alert system, pedestrian warning, city assist, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.
Bentley Flying Spur comes in two variants, V8 and W12. The base model V8 is priced at ?3.21 cr, while the high-end W12 costs ?3.41 cr. Bentley recently launched the Hybrid version of Flying Spur, available at the international price of $204,000 (approximately ?1.52 cr).

It has the segment-best handcrafted interiors exemplifying opulence.
It features a very stylish three-sided rotating display.

Bentley compromised the fuel economy in its pursuit of high performance.
Flying Spur’s Hybrid model lacks the high-rated attributes of its petrol variants.
It comes with a basic security system lacking features like a speed-sensing door lock.
Despite equipping the vehicle with one of the most innovative infotainment systems, Bentley skipped voice command support.
Flying Spur lacks some good-to-have facilities such as hill hold assist, limited-slip differential and rear glass defogger.
Bentley Flying Spur can be described in one word as breathtaking. It is a beautifully designed vehicle, both inside and out. The aggressive exteriors with a long grille and exquisite headlights make Flying Spur stand out. Although luxury is a must-have feature for such high-priced vehicles, Bentley has outdone itself with Flying Spur. The handcrafted interiors feature the three-dimensional leather quilt among a long list of firsts in this model.
Bentley decided to equip Flying Spur with an All-Wheel Steering system to go with its envious three-sided rotating display. The mood lighting is yet another interesting touch to add to the exuberance. One other exciting addition is the retractable ‘Flying B’. What’s more, fun is the option to have crystal feathers in its wings.
Coming to Flying Spur’s performance, it is packed with a very powerful and heavyset twin-turbocharged engine. Its power output is much better than its competitors like Rolls Royce Ghost and Mercedes-Mayback S650, while falling short - only slightly - in terms of fuel economy. Meanwhile, Flying Spur’s sprint time of 60 mph is the best as both Rolls Royce and Mercedes-Mayback hit the mark at 4.6 seconds. In safety measures, Flying Spur could do quite a bit of improvement to ensure absolute security.
Although it is fairly priced in the segment, the cost is hardly a factor for Bentley or other ultra-luxury brands’ target audience. Plus, the extent of personalization that Bentley offers, the more money you spend, the better Flying Spur gets.
