The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was finally launched in the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show held in Jakarta. After numerous spy pics surfacing online, the car finally makes its much-awaited public debut. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is not a mere cosmetic facelift. You can pretty much say it’s a brand-new car on the whole. Apart from significant changes to the exteriors and interiors which are obviously visible straight away, the engine is also new. The overall dimensions of the car have also changed with increases in length, width and height. The wheelbase however still remains the same. Indonesia will most likely be getting the car as a CBU Import from India and it is expected to be launched in our country around the month of August.
The existing Ertiga had a very plain and dull design. The new one thankfully gets much more contemporary looking aesthetics which are much more pleasing to the eye. The face of the car now looks much bolder and aggressive courtesy the slim projector headlamp cluster. The front grille gets a more detailed design compared to the previous one which looked rather rudimentary. The lower air dam is pretty much unchanged but it now sits on a completely redesigned bumper which protrudes into fog lamp area.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga now boasts of aggressive creases running across the side profile and over the bonnet. The D-pillar gets a blacked-out tip which makes it look like the 3rd-row windows and rear windshield are made of the same piece of glass. Kudos to the designers for coming up with that! The L-shaped tail lamps get LED lights and are somewhat reminiscent of the Honda WR-V.
Contrary to what we earlier reported, the new Ertiga’s dashboard layout isn’t the exact same as the new Swift Dzire. The only things similar here are the steering wheel and the instrument cluster. The leather padding on the steering, however, is beige instead of black as seen on the Swift Dzire. Apart from that, the entire layout is totally different. The entire panels on the interior are done in beige to give it a roomy and airy feel.
The most noticeable feature in the dashboard will certainly have to be the central 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Unlike the units on the Swift and Swift DZire, the one on the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is not integrated into the dashboard and protrudes out. The design of buttons, the AC vents and the gear lever are also completely different from the previous model. The Ertiga now also features a wooden panel running across the length of the dashboard like the new DZire but in a different shape.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga now comes loaded with a host of equipment as well. It gets a start/stop button, a keyless entry system, height adjustment for the driver and tilt adjustment for the steering, a ventilated cup holder, smartphone integration for the infotainment system and electronically operated RVM’s.
The new Ertiga gets its power from the brand new K15B engine. The K15B is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine which comes equipped with VVT (Variable Valve Technology). The engine now produces 104.7 bhp of power and 138 Nm of torque. The earlier K14B engine made 92 bhp and 130 Nm of torque. It will come with the same transmission choices as the mode it replaces, a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will also be incorporated with an array of electronic safety components. There will be SRS airbags for both driver and passenger. The new Ertiga will come packed with an EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution Force System) linked with the ABS. The top model will come with ESP (Electronic Stability Program). ISOFIX for anchoring child seats will also be available.
The New Ertiga is expected to be launched in the month of August this year itself. It will most likely be priced in the 7-10 lakh price segment which is slightly more than the existing model.
