The 1.5-Liter Petrol subcompact SUV segment consists of two top contenders, the Maruti Brezza Hybrid and the Hyundai Creta. Apart from the price tag, there are a few differences that make this tug of war interesting. Well, we have a sweetly enchanting read for people interested in this comparison.
First, the price. Price is what really sets the benchmark of the quality of product you are about to receive.
The 2020 facelift Hyundai Creta prices start at INR 10 lakhs, Hyundai took the subcompact SUV segment a step above. Whereas, the facelift Maruti Brezza comes budget friendly with a price tag of INR 8.5 lakhs.
What everybody decided to ignore was the fact that Maruti’s 1.5-Liter hybrid engine produces 103 bhp of power whereas the Hyundai Creta’s heart churns out 113 bhp. What might upset a lot of auto enthusiasts is the soaking out of low end from the Brezza in which the diesel variant was pretty efficient.
Nicely put, Brezza might lose its charm with Petrol but with the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) inbuilt in this power train, Brezza might attract a lot of Indians as we love fuel efficient cars! And the hybrid is a cleaner and greener choice than diesel.
Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room, the exteriors.
Who could miss the double stacked grille from 2020 Brezza? Well, no one because it looks real badass! Much more sportier and a rugged look than its predecessor. Maruti switched its attention from normal customers to the young, fast paced youngsters with the introduction of Nexa and to keep the pace going, they split the Brezza. As for Creta, it is nothing but a minor facelift of the front fascia but what will fascinate you is the interior quality and pumped up performance figures.
For Creta, Brezza might bring a tad bit of competition but with Creta’s reputation as India’s most loved car, it will be a little bit difficult for Brezza to leave its mark in the subcompact SUV category.
