Hyundai Motor India Limited launched its flagship SUV, the 2020 Tucson at an inductor price of Rs 22.3 lakh (ex-showroom, PAN India).
Hyundai aims to capture the premium SUV segment with the new Tucson, the company already has a strong presence in the compact and sub-compact SUV segment with the Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Venue.
The all-new Tucson gets an updated look on the outside with signature cascade design chrome front Grille, Penta projector LED headlamps along with LED DRL’s & LED tail lamps. The SUV comes fitted with an 18″ diamond cut alloy wheels & twin chrome exhaust accentuates that gives it a bold and sporty appeal.
The SUV comes with 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel Hyundai Tucson produces a whooping 185 BHP with 400 Nm of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol Tucson delivers an impressive 153 BHP with 196 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. To further maximize the driving pleasure, the SUV offers HTRAC 4WD system, advanced traction cornering control and various drive modes.
On the interior, the Tucson gets all-black leather upholstery with a leather stitched dashboard, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, eight-speaker music system, and a number of advanced safety features.
The Tucson gets six safety airbags, electronic parking system (EPS), ABS with EBD, front & rear parking sensors, hill assist, and descent control. Apart from these, a push start button, keyless entry, wireless charging, automatic ORVMs, etc are available.
The new TUCSON also is the first SUV in its segment to be offered with Advanced Connected Car features via “Hyundai BlueLink”. It allows to remotely lock /unlock & even start the engine or air conditioning using devices like smartphone/ smartwatch. Also, the car can be tracked down & immobilized with just a touch of a button in case of an emergency.
The 2020 Tucson will rival against SUVs like the Jeep Compass, XUV 500, Tata Harrier, Skoda Karoq, and VW Tiguan. Only time will tell if Hyundai will capture the premium SUV segment with its latest offering. The Tucson definitely has a lot more to offer than its predecessors.
