MG Motor India has announced that it recorded a YoY growth of 40 per cent in July 2020 with the retail of 2,105 units. As compared to July 2020, the carmaker had sold only 1,508 units back in July 2019, which was its first month of business in the Indian car market.
Commenting on the sales growth and the overall sales performance of his company in July 2020, Rakesh Sidana, Director – Sales, MG Motor India, has commented, “The overall market environment continues to be challenging with uncertainties due to variable lockdowns in various phases. The component supplies continue to remain impacted especially from the Chennai region. However, despite these challenges, our production has remained at similar levels in July as compared to June 2020 and we expect the situation to improve during the festival season.”
Currently, MG Motor India has a three model strong portfolio. Its maiden product, the MG Hector, has already established itself well in the market, while the ZS EV, the company’s premium electric car, has also managed to carve out a niche for itself in the market. The company also launched its third product, the MG Hector Plus, last month.
Based on the regular MG Hector, the Hector Plus offers six seats and a three-row layout and comes with a few extra features such as a gesture-controlled tailgate opening and closing. It also gets a more premium upholstery, while offering premium features of the Hector, including a large-screen portrait-style touchscreen unit, panoramic sunroof, iSmart connected features and an electric tailgate opening and closing.
Compared to the Hector, the MG Hector Plus is a tad longer owing to the new bumpers. However, both vehicles have the same wheelbase. Also, the Hector Plus features an updated styling package with a new grille, slightly tweaked headlamps and tail lamps and new bumpers.
