Despite the devastating impact of COVID-19, the automobile sector has managed to have a decent comeback into the market. The industry has managed to rake in a modest 20.1 million units sold over the year 2020. The Indian craze over sedans is seeing a slow decline as hatchback vehicles are now fulfilling all their needs at a better price than sedans. Here are a couple of new and exciting hatchbacks set to release in the year 2022.
Check out the list of the five best hatchbacks launching in India.
Maruti Wagon-R (Electric)
Maruti is eager to join the electric race with the all-new WagonR electric. Valued at approximately 10 Lakhs per unit, this Japanese model has already released its electric variant in Japan since 2017. Maruti Suzuki is currently testing their all-electric WagonR in India and is expected to unveil it in 2022. The testing period for this vehicle will take longer as the company wants to make the vehicle undergo thorough tests in every terrain and weather condition to assure quality.
Tata Tiago EV
With the Tiago slowly finding its place as one of the best hatchbacks from Tata, the company has now set its eyes on the electric automobile industry. The all-new Tata Tiago EV is priced at 14 Lakhs and is tentatively announced to release in June 2022 based on trial tests and further optimization for the final model. The price is strategically set to compete with the likes of Mahindra’s XUV300 and the future Maruti Baleno models, a once strong competitor for Tata’s hatchback, Tiago.
MG Motors has been around for about 4 years in India and has recorded a decent number of units sold. Their vehicles have the USP of having certain car features which are connected to the internet, offering exciting on-road features for the consumer. Their new model, MG 3, has been fixed to come out in June 2022. The engine is sought to be a 1.4L Manual Petrol engine and is going to be priced in the budget range of 6 lakh rupees.
Maruti Swift Hybrid
Consumers can get the best of both worlds now because of Maruti Suzuki. The trusted Swift range has a new addition that is greener and safer for the environment. The new Swift Hybrid has been confirmed to be coupled with a 1.2L petrol engine and a battery pack! Both power systems will rely on each other, and the petrol engine is hinted to be able to charge the inbuilt battery. Priced at a meek 10 Lakhs, this vehicle is going to be a popular choice.
The popular Nexa range gives their leading vehicle, Baleno, a fresh aesthetic face-lift for 2022. The front and back end design will be their primary focus, while mechanical and functional features of the car will remain more or less the same. The interactive interface is upgraded to a larger and brighter screen, along with slight design changes to the AC vents. The price will be around 12 Lakhs and is set to be released in the first quarter of 2022.
