Tata Motors is all set to launch the Tigor on 29th March 2017. We drove it around Delhi NCR and as we found out, its more than just a sedan version of the Tiago hatchback. It looks stunning for a small sedan, comes with a long list of standard features and will be priced under Rs 4 lakh for the base version. Sounds interesting? Right then, if you are in the market looking for your first ‘BIG’ car, this could be it! Here are 5 reasons why we think so:
You must have heard of the famous quote, “The first impression is usually the best impression” and in this regard, the Tigor wins hands down. Small sedans are often criticized for uninspiring rear design themes but the Tigor’s “Style Back” language works really well. The Tigor looks nice from all the angles specially in this particular shade of color. The diamond cut 15″ alloy wheels complete the package though sadly, these will not be offered with the diesel engine option.
Nevertheless, the Tigor easily garners a lot of attention which means this car will make you the center of attraction among your friends and relatives. The Tata Tigor also comes with smoked black headlamp casing and LED DRLs for the tail lamps.

“You get what you pay for” doesn’t seem to work here. Step inside the Tigor and you will be impressed with the overall fit and finish for a 4-5 lakh rupee car. Infact, the quality is up there with the best and Tata Motors deserves a pat on their back for delivering such a premium experience on the inside. The black theme works well and there is ample space for 5 adults. Though cars like the Honda Amaze and the Ford Aspire have slightly more rear seat space, the Tiago’s rear bench is wide and offers a central arm-rest with cup holders. Not to forget, you also gets over 419 litres of usable boot space.
Tata cars are known to offer shattering value for money and the Tiago is a perfect example. Though official pricing for the Tigor isn’t out yet, we can safely expect a base pricing of about Rs 4 lakh. Higher versions will be priced approximately Rs 1.5 – 2 lakh more but are packed with features. These include a rear camera, cooled glovebox, dual airbags, ABS, powered outside mirrors, voice commands, climate control, driver info display as well as a high-end touch screen infotainment system. You get a 8 speaker set-up (4 speakers and 4 tweeters) along with an array of apps including navigation and emergency assist. Phew!

This is another Tata trait. And we are not just referring to the ride quality (more on that later) but the comfortable seats and the super effective air-conditioning. Our car was literally baking in the afternoon sun but the air-con chilled us down in a matter of minutes – very impressive.
The ride quality and absence of suspension noise is one of the biggest plus points about the Tigor. Your family members will appreciate this trait, especially on those long weekend rides. The Tigor is not meant to be an enthusiasts delight and is more focused towards urban usage by family owners. Drive it over broken tarmac and you will be impressed with its ability to absorb all road imperfections.
It also has 170mm of ground clearance which means you will not have to bother about hitting the underbelly when driving with a full load. Another factor that will aid driver comfort is the light steering : on congested roads, you can easily filter through traffic with just one hand on the wheel.
