Given the Tiago’s fantastic sticker price, it won’t be wrong to assume a starting price of Rs 4 lakh for the base petrol Tigor. A well equipped version will cost another 60-75k making this extremely good value for money. The Tata Tigor will undercut both premium hatchbacks as well as small sedans in terms of pricing. Secondly, the Tigor will also offer excellent fuel economy figures, about 23 kmpl for the petrol and 27 kmpl for the diesel version. The Tigor will be a pocket friendly car to drive!
For the uninitiated, the Tata Tigor will come with a choice of two engine options. These include a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-litre diesel. These are exactly the same engines that power the Tiago hatchback. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Tata Motors will come up with an optional AMT at a later stage.
So while these are strong points to consider the Tigor as your next purchase, at the same time, there are a few shortcomings with the car. The overall NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels could have been better. Ditto for road noise filtering into the cabin. The infotainment system also feels a bit lazy to respond to your touch – not as sensitive as we would have liked.
