The 2020 edition of the Auto Expo is scheduled to take from February 7 to 12 in the National Capital Region, Greater Noida. This year, 20 percent of the exhibition space consists of Chinese auto companies including the Great Wall Motors, Haima, and MG Motors.
According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the exhibit areas of the Chinese companies at the Auto Expo will be manned by their Indian employees and representatives.
Rajan Wadhera, the president of SIAM said, “None of these stalls would be manned by anybody who has come to India recently from China. As all arrivals from China has now been stopped, there will be no visitors or delegations from China at the Motor Show 2020.”’
A few days ago, Great Wall Motors issued a public statement stating that their delegation from China will not be present in the Expo apart from those who were present in India before the Coronavirus outbreak.
The deadly virus has claimed almost 400 lives and has spread to 27 countries in the world with China being the most affected country. So far, only 3 cases have been reported in India.
The Auto Expo 2018 recorded a footfall of 6 lakhs plus visitors, while the numbers could be much higher this year.
SIAM along with the government has taken the necessary steps to ensure a safe environment for both the visitors and the participants of the Auto Expo 2020.
