Auto Expo To Return in January 2023: All You Need To Know

Automotive enthusiasts, mark your calendars and rejoice! For after what has been a long wait, Auto Expo is all set to return to Noida! While this year the expo was postponed due to the rising third wave cases of Covid-19, India’s largest automotive event will return next year. Rajesh Menon, Director General of the Society of Automobile Manufacturers, or SIAM, announced that Auto Expo 2023 will be held between 13-18 January 2023.

Also called the Delhi Auto Show, the Auto Expo will be held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, as always. The Component Show will be held parallelly at the Pragati Maidan Complex, New Delhi. The only significant change is in the timing since usually, the Auto Expo was held in early February, as opposed to mid-January for the 2023 edition. Not only this, but the Auto Expo will now be held every other year from 2023 onwards, in alignment with Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles, or the International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers’ (OICA) global auto show calendar.

The Auto Expo is the mecca for automotive aficionados all over the country, whether you witness it in person or track it online via updates. So it was rather heartbreaking when it was announced last year, back in August 2021, that the Auto Expo will not return for 2022. This announcement was just on the heels of news of the third wave of the pandemic hitting off. For safety concerns, SIAM announced the postponement. SIAM explained that organizing such a large-scale event like the Auto Expo can be a deterrent to the Covid protocols across the country and could possibly be aiding widespread contamination.

It was even more concerning, as the last Auto Expo to be held was the Auto Expo 2020, which saw significantly lower footfall than before due to the Covid-19 scare, even though many new models had debuted that year. While most of the latest and upcoming models made their debut, very few actually launched owing to the pandemic.

Here’s hoping this edition of the Auto Expo will see a ton of new launches and cars of our dreams. Team CARS24 is hyped and will definitely see you there!
