Keeping up with other carmakers now with its extended service and warranty plans is BMW Group India. As the country continues to be under lockdown, companies have been trying to keep their customers calm by ensuring undeterred after-sales support. In BMW’s case, the Group not only consists of BMW itself but also Mini. While the ongoing lockdown will reportedly be lifted in phases, that process will only commence next month. Therefore, many automakers in India (including the BMW Group) have announced extensions on service and/or warranty plans for customers at least until June 30, 2021.
Commenting on the marque’s new step was Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India. He was quoted saying,
“At BMW Group, we stand together – because that is our culture and a strong value system which has always stood the test of time. We have once again undertaken comprehensive measures to support our customers to ensure a hassle-free ownership experience of their BMW and Mini vehicles during this unprecedented time. With a network of dedicated dealer partners, expert teams, and strong processes, we will make consistent efforts in ensuring complete peace of mind, both on and off the road.”
This being the BMW Group, one can’t simply call their after-sales service and maintenance support as just “service” or “maintenance.” In BMW speak, it is known as Service Inclusive and Repair Inclusive packages. All BMW and Mini owners who have their Service/Repair Inclusive packages expiring between March 31 and June 29 will have their plans automatically extended till June 30, 2021. Customers of BMW Group India can choose between three Service Inclusive packages. These include Oil Service Inclusive, Service Inclusive Basic, and Service Inclusive Plus – each covering a different duration and/or mileage. The choices range from 3 years/40,000 kilometers, extendable all the way up to 10 years/200,000 kilometers.
According to the German automaker, the Oil Service Inclusive package is specifically for customers whose usage is low. Therefore, this particular plan only covers oil services of the car. As for the Service Inclusive Basic plan, customers are supported with regular maintenance work such as vehicle check and standard scopes, engine oil service, engine oil top-ups along with service/replacement of the air filter, fuel filter, microfilter, spark plugs, and brake fluid. BMW Group India also provides customers with its Service Inclusive Plus package. This upgraded plan covers wear and tear items such as the brake pads, brake discs, wiper blades, and clutch, in addition to all that’s encompassed by the Service Inclusive Basic package.
BMW customers who have already subscribed to the Service Inclusive package can have their plan renewed or extended up to 15 months after the expiry of their initial subscription. Meanwhile, those who have subscribed to BMW’s Repair Inclusive package can have their cars’ standard warranty extended to 6 years. This is applicable even for those whose 24-month/unlimited mileage plan has expired. At present, BMW sells 23 different cars that are spread across multiple variants, including separate M versions of certain models. Meanwhile, Mini’s range of models includes up to four different cars. And of course, Mini customers are also covered by BMW Group India’s extended service and warranty plans.
