BMW i4 To Be Unveiled In India On April 28; Here’s What You Need To Know

BMW is on an EV hot streak as it recently announced the launch of the i4 sedan after launching its two prized EVs– the iX SUV and the Mini Cooper SE. BMW is fast catching up, albeit a little late to the EV game. BMW will unveil the all-electric i4 sedan on April 28, 2022. It is believed it will be India’s longest-range EV, with a claimed range of 590km. The i4 can charge up to 200kW, adding 164km of range in the eDrive40 in just 10 minutes. It will go on sale in May and prices will be expected soon.

What will be one of the highest of all luxury EVs in India, the BMW i4 was unveiled globally last year in March. It is essentially an all-electric version of the 4 Series Gran Coupe, which is based on the 3 Series’ CLAR architecture. Physically and design-wise, it is pretty similar to the 4 Series Gran Coupe, barring a few EV upgrades like the blanked-off grille like most other ICE-turned EVs. Other features include aero-optimized wheels, blue accents, flush door handles, and tweaked front and rear bumpers. The layout and design are strikingly similar on the interior, with a curved twin-screen set-up consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will, however, not have a flat floor and free center console area like other EVs.

The BMW i4 is available globally in two variants – eDrive40 and M50 xDrive. The i4 eDrive 40 gets a rear axle-mounted electric motor that produces 340hp and 430Nm and can 0-100kph sprint in 5.7 seconds. The i4 M50 xDrive, meanwhile, gets all-wheel drive, produces 544hp and 795Nm, and can sprint from 0-100kph in 3.9 seconds. It is expected that the Indian counterpart will be the eDrive40 variant.

Other information is awaited, and we can’t wait to see BMW bring the i4 to the Indian roads.
