Auto Expo 2020 was nothing short of a packet filled with surprises, few but still packed a punch. The punch Maruti had in store was a much bulkier Ignis, buffed up to a much sportier look with claddings and roof rails. Well, Maruti decided to release the price list of these fresh out of the oven Ignis.
Launched at a price tag of INR 4.86 lakhs, the new Ignis is BS6 compliant. Available in 7 variants, Ignis Alpha with automatic transmission is priced at INR 7.14 lakhs which was previously priced at INR 7.10 lakhs (ex-showroom price).
With an updated front grille and body cladding, Maruti made this vehicle look more rugged and true to its character. Delta variant is equipped with body cladding as standard and roof spoiler too. With an updated yet intuitive infotainment display, Ignis is all set to break into a much broader spectrum of the market.
Taking all its power from the legendary K-Series engine, the 1.2-liter K12B churns out 83bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, automatic will be a much better option if we keep in mind the traffic condition of metropolitan cities.
Previously, Ignis was a competitor to Hyundai i10 Grand and VW Polo but with a much meaner look, Ignis is set to compete with KUV100, a micro-SUV.
Apart from Ignis, Maruti also launched a facelift version of the hybrid Brezza with a BS6 compliant petrol engine. Maruti decided to discontinue their diesel variants citing to a much cleaner environment.
