Coronavirus Lockdown: Government to Extend Validity Deadlines For Vehicle Documents

In a rare moment of respite for the public amidst the coronavirus lockdown, the Union Government has decided to extend all existing validity deadlines for vehicle-related documents. This comes as a relief for all the worried vehicle owners and drivers whose documents might have expired recently.

All invalid documents, including permits, driving licenses, registration certificates(RC) and fitness certificates (FC), will be excused if and only if their expiry date was past February 1, 2020. The extension has come in effect due to the 21-day lockdown enforced all over the country till April 14, 2020. According to the Ministry for Road Transport and Highways, all permits that couldn’t have been processed due to the coronavirus scare and lost their validity after February 1 will be regarded as valid till June 30, 2020.
