Diesel Prices Fall, Petrol Cost Remains Unchanged

Diesel prices in the national capital Delhi were reduced by Rs 9 paise per litre, from the existing Rs 70.80 to Rs. 70.71, while petrol prices remained unchanged. The petrol price on Monday in Delhi is Rs. 81.06 per litre.

The price of diesel has fallen in other metro cities as well. In Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, diesel today costs at Rs 77.12, Rs 74.23, and Rs 76.18 respectively as compared to the previous price of Rs 77.22, Rs 74.32, and Rs 76.27 per litre.

Diesel prices have fallen and witnessed a downward trend for four consecutive days. In the previous months, diesel had witnessed a consistent fall in prices while oil marketing companies have kept the petrol prices unchanged for six consecutive days. In Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, petrol today costs Rs 81.06, Rs 87.74, Rs 82.59, and Rs 84.14 per litre respectively.

The fall in fuel prices is due to the low demand for oil globally as the second wave of coronavirus threatens to disrupt the economic activity, also the Brent crude price is subdued around $42 a barrel.

As for the consumers, the diesel price fall comes as good news amidst the pandemic, diesel now is cheaper by Rs. 2.85 per litre in Delhi in comparison to last month.
