The driving licence test process in Lucknow is defined by the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. A Motor Vehicle Inspector from the concerned RTO acts as an invigilator, while all candidates are required to use their own vehicle in the test. One can always use the motor vehicle of a motor driving school in case he can’t arrange the required vehicle from elsewhere.
The applicant for a driving licence of a two or a three-wheeler should ride his or her vehicle within a boundary and ride it in a way so as to make imaginary patterns of 8 without stalling the vehicle. Next, he has to ride the vehicle on a public rod. The invigilator passes or fails the applicant as per his performance.
The applicant for a driving licence of a four-wheeler needs to drive his vehicle on a pre-designed test track without coming in contact with any of the columns placed on the boundary. On satisfying the invigilator, the applicant has to drive on a public road, where he is judged based on his performance in real-world conditions.
On failing the DL test for any category of vehicle, the applicant can give a re-test after a gap of 7 days and payment of a small fee to the RTO.
