Honda Cars India Ltd., today revealed the details of the fifth generation Indian spec Honda City, ahead of its launch in July 2020. The all-new City is will be available with petrol and diesel engine options, the sedan comes loaded with new features and technology upgrades.
5th Gen Honda City Platform & Dimensions
The 2020 Honda City is based on a new platform that has made the sedan lighter, safer offering more rigid structure than its predecessor. The platform is also said to improve the car’s handling and dynamics. The new City is also the longest and the widest sedan in its segment measuring 4,549mm in length, 1,748mm in width, 1,489mm in height, and 2,600mm-long.
5th Gen Honda City Engines & Gearbox
The fifth-gen City comes with a BS6-compliant 1.5 litre DOHC petrol engine that produces 121hp with 145Nm of torque. The engine in the diesel City is the same old 1.5 litre unit as the old City and Amaze but it has been upgraded to meet BS-6 standards with the help of a diesel particle filter and NSC . The engine produces 100hp with 200Nm of torque mated to 6 speed manual gearbox. The petrol City gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-step CVT automatic with paddle shifters in the top-end variant. The new Honda City petrol is fuel efficient with an ARAI-rated mileage of 17.8kpl on the manual and 18.4kpl on the automatic CVT. The diesel City has an ARAI-rated mileage of 24.1kpl.
5th Gen Honda City Features & Price
The new City is the Honda car to come with Alexa remote capability. The sedan also comes loaded with features like electric sunroof, 16-inch diamond cut alloys, auto-dimming IVRM, Honda Connect telematics with 32 connected car features, 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, LED headlamps and taillamps, paddle shifters (Automatic CVT), rear sunshade, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, remote engine start and hands-free boot release.
Safety features on the latest City include six safety airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, Honda’s lane watch camera, parking camera, ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill-start assist, vehicle stability assist, agile handling assist, auto headlamps and wipers.
The new City will rival against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, and the VW Vento in its segment. We are expecting the fifth-generation Honda City price to be in the range of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
