After a rather dull 2020, things are finally looking pleasant as we head to 2021. India’s beloved and largest car manufacturer, Maruti, is geared up with exciting launches planned for the next year.

After a somewhat disappointing 2020, first due to the initial slump in auto sales due to the pandemic, and then having to discontinue models due to BS6 emission norms, 2021 is all set to be a glorious year with the way things are lined up. So, without any further ado, here are four upcoming Maruti cars that will be launched in 2021.

Wagon-R 7 seater

India’s beloved Wagon-R gets a significant facelift with the 2021 7-seater model. Although the concept was announced in 2013, it will finally become a reality in 2021. The car will retain its trademark looks, with the addition of extra seating capacity for two people. The vehicle will be a perfect option for large and traditional joint families. The pricing, too, isn’t much different from the current Wagon-R models as it is estimated that it will cost only INR 80,000 more than the current Wagon-R prices.

Swift

The 2021 Swift will receive facelifts that are in-line with the Japanese model introduced earlier in the year. The car will have a new grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern. The bumper, too, will be revised, with the LED lamps receiving modifications too. On the interiors, the engine is upgraded to a 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine, which will offer more power and torque than the current one. The cost of the new Swift is expected to be between INR 5.5 lakh to INR 8.5 lakh, which is almost similar to the prices of the current models.

Alto

The Alto is expected to receive a major stylish upgrade next year. The entry-level hatchback is expected to have a touchscreen system, front power windows, and central and remote locking as standard features. The car will be powered by the same 0.8L engine that powers the current models. In terms of price, too, the 2021 model will be almost similar to the current model.

Jimny

The internationally-successful SUV makes its Indian debut in 2021. The Jimny is a compact SUV with a boxy look reminiscent of the classical Jeep. Internationally, the car is sold as a two-door model, but we can expect a larger 5-door version for the Indian market. The vehicle will be powered by a 1.5L petrol engine with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed auto transmission system. The car is expected to be priced above ten lakh rupees.

Conclusion

2021 looks to be a good year for Maruti. With these four exciting cars lined up with unique features and futuristic, next-generation looks, the upcoming year will undoubtedly lead to a better destination.
