Jeep Compass Night Eagle Edition to Launch Soon

With Fiat models, including somewhat well-known names like Linea and Punto, having bowed out of the market, the onus is now on Jeep to help FCA with garnering decent sales in India. Speaking of Jeep, the popular American SUV manufacturer commenced its local innings with Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. However, it must be noted here that in spite of being renowned nameplates, the duo is placed in high-end segments that do not help carmakers with sales figures.

This is exactly where Jeep India’s third offering comes into the limelight. The Compass, which is even referred to as the ‘baby Cherokee’, is priced much lower than its siblings and is hence a volume-churner. The Compass is manufactured at the Ranjangaon plant, which also serves as the export hub for many other right-hand-drive markets.

The Jeep Compass started off pretty well, with sales reaching 25,000 units within a year of the introduction. However, with the advent of fresher competition in the form of the MG Hector and Kia Seltos started taking a toll on the popularity of the SUV. Also, an utter lack of more mainstream products in the company’s portfolio further curbed the growth of the manufacturer. That said, Jeep has been quite regular with updating the Compass range and even came up with the highly capable Trailhawk edition last year. Earlier this year, the company launched an updated version with higher ground clearance, updated exterior, nine-speed automatic transmission and an AWD system.

Jeep even plans to introduce the mid-life facelift of the Compass in the Indian market. Along with this, the company will even launch a seven-seater version based on the Compass. However, for now, the manufacturer is going to introduce a limited edition version called ‘Night Eagle.’ The new model was recently teased on the company’s social media page and in all likelihood, it will be similar to the special variant sold by the same name in the international markets. The upcoming model will be based on the Longitude Plus trim and will be launched in the coming weeks.

Jeep Compass Night Eagle Edition Features

The exterior updates that the new model will sport will include an all-black colour theme with gloss black finish on the signature grille and window line trim. The SUV will also sport blacked-out badges and a set of 18-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black. Inside, the upcoming Jeep Compass Night Eagle will have an 8.4-inch UConnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Other features of the new model will include ‘techno’ leather seat upholstery, glossy black interior trim, dual-zone climate control, push-button start/stop with keyless entry, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Start Assist and rear parking sensors with camera. While specifications of the India-spec model are yet to be announced, it will likely go on sale with 1.4-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine options.
