Jeep Motors India is all set to unveil the ‘Jeep Renegade’ in their brigade of off-terrain passenger vehicles. This will be the smallest SUV in the segment offered by the brand in India. According to a report, the 2019 Jeep Renegade India spec model is set to touch the Indian shores in September 2018, followed by ‘Renegade’s’ first public showcase at a Motor Show in the first half of 2019. This will be Jeep Renegade’s first facelift since its debut in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show.
If leaked images are to follow, the facelift Jeep Renegade is set to come with a slimmer grille and circular headlamps with LED elements. The bumper would be updated as well. The centre console, specifically the portion below the touchscreen display gets a revised layout for the air conditioning controls, parking assist, and dashboard controls. Mechanical changes due with the mid-cycle refresh are currently unknown. Jeep currently offers Jeep Renegade with a variety of engines in 1.4- to 2.4-litre capacities with diesel and petrol fuel options. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic and 9-speed automatic. Power goes to the front wheels as standard, but the Jeep Active Drive and Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 systems are available in select configurations. For the 2019 facelift ‘’Renegade’, the machinery under the hood could be expected to have a 140 hp 2.0 L diesel engine and a 1.4 L turbo petrol engine with AWD optional on this new addition in the Jeep’s passenger vehicle’s portfolio in India.
The 2019 Jeep Renegade’s 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will come with a 48V mild hybrid system. This MultiAir2 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine will produce 140 hp at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. In terms of the diesel variant, ‘Renegade’ will come with a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will produce 120 hp at 3,750 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. Jeep will manufacture the ‘Renegade’ at the Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra, India. This will be company’s second locally manufactured SUV after the recent successful Jeep Compass.
