Earlier this month, Kia Motors India revealed the production-spec Sonet after showcasing a near-production version back at the Auto Expo 2020 in February. The Kia Sonet will launch next month and will go on to rival models like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300. Ahead of the official launch of the new model, we’ve got our hands on brochure scans of the Kia Sonet and here, in this post, we’ll tell you about all the important things that have been revealed by the brochure.
The Kia Sonet will be sold in two style variants – Tech Line and GT Line. This is similar to how it is with the Kia Seltos. The new model will share its platform with the Hyundai Venue and will even offer mostly the same engine options. However, the leaked brochure scans have thrown light at the exact specs, which we have discussed in the section below.
Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission |
1.2-litre petrol | 83 PS | 115 Nm | 5-speed manual |
1.0-litre turbo petrol | 120 PS | 172 Nm | 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT automatic |
1.5-litre turbo diesel | 100 PS | 240 Nm | 6-speed manual |
1.5-litre turbo diesel | 115 PS | 250 Nm | 6-speed automatic |
As per the leaked brochure, the Kia Sonet will be sold in as many as 4 engine options – two petrol and two diesel. The base petrol engine will displace 1.2-litre and will offer a maximum power of 83 PS and a peak torque of 115 Nm. The more powerful engine will be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit that will offer 120 PS and 172 Nm. The former will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the latter will be available with both 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT.
For the diesel variants, the company will use the same 1.5-litre turbocharged unit that is available on the Seltos. However, it will be available in two states of tune – 100 PS/240 Nm and 115 PS/250 Nm. The former will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the latter will be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Kia Sonet will be loaded to the brim with features, which will make it the most well-equipped model in its segment. Highlights of the features list will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen Infotainment System compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Ventilated Front Seats, Air Purifier with Display, UVO Connect, Electric Sunroof, Wireless Mobile Charging, Traction Control in GT Line, Drive Modes in GT Line, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Front Parking Sensors, and Full LED Head and Tail Lights
