The Kia Sonet is easily the most anticipated car launches at the moment. The new model was unveiled early this month and will launch in the coming days. Ahead of its official introduction, the carmaker commenced the bookings of its new offering and even managed to bag over 6,500 bookings on the first day itself. In fact, even the first batch of the new model has already started reaching dealerships across the country. Recently, we got our hands on a set of spy images of a Golden-coloured Kia Sonet GT Line that has been spotted parked at a dealership stockyard.

It must be noted here that the Kia Sonet GT Line will be available only in the top-spec GTX+ variant. In comparison, the Tech Line will be available in a range of trims to suit every need and budget. The Tech Line will be available in HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX. The unit that has been spotted recently features the car’s promotional Beige Gold colour. Compared to the Tech Line, the GT Line variant will carry several red accents both on the exterior as well as the interior. The interior will also get an all-black theme instead of the dual-tone black beige theme of the Tech Line variant.

As for the features, the Kia Sonet will offer a range of segment-leading features, including LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps, roof rails, front and rear skid plates, 10.25-inch HD touchscreen display with UVO connect, ventilated front seats, 7.1 Channel Bose surround sound system with five speakers, industry-first air purifier with virus protection, and ambient lighting.

As we have been saying, the Kia Sonet will be available with three engine options – 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel. The 1.2 litre petrol engine offers 83 bhp and 115 Nm, while the 1.0-litre version offers 118 bhp and 173 Nm. The diesel motor will be available in two tunes – 100PS/240 Nm and 115 PS/250 Nm. The former will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the latter will be paired with a 6-speed torque converter unit. The base petrol engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the turbo-petrol motor will be available with a 6-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) and an option 7-speed DCT automatic unit. Prices of the Kia Sonet are likely to be a tad higher than those of the Hyundai Venue. However, it’s likely to justify the premium positioning through its design, performance, and extra features.
