Kia Motors India has finally launched the Sonet sub-compact-SUV in India. The new model has gone on sale at an introductory price of Rs 6.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model has gone on sale in a range of engine variants and even comes with many trim options. It must be noted that the Kia Sonet was first showcased in a near-production avatar at the Auto Expo 2020. The new model shared aplenty with the Hyundai Venue and goes on to rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and its donor model.

Prices of the Kia Sonet start at Rs 6.71 lakh and go all the way to Rs 11.99 lakh. The new model is available in three engine variants and 6 trim levels – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+. What this means is that like the Seltos, the Sonet is on sale in two trim levels – Tech Line and GT Line.

The Kia Sonet is on sale with 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine option. The petrol engine options include 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol option. The former offers 83 PS and 115 Nm, while the latter offers 120 PS and 172 Nm. Transmission options for the less powerful petrol engine include a 5-speed manual, while the latter comes with 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine option displaces 1.5-litre and offers 100 PS and 240 Nm with the 6-speed manual transmission and 115 PS and 250 Nm with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Kia Sonet is a sub-compact SUV that measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,647 mm height. This makes it the tallest of them all and has a 2,500 mm wheelbase. It also offers a segment-best ground clearance of 211 mm.
