The Kia Sonet just launched! The Korean carmaker announced the prices of all the Kia Sonet variants in a digital launch. The Sonet is built on the same chassis as its cousin, Hyundai Venue. Recently, we brought to you the fuel mileage as well as the acceleration figures of the SUV.

The estimated price list provided by a Kia dealership earlier said the prices for Sonet would start from Rs. 8 Lakhs but the official price was announced today by the manufacturer for the Kia Sonet and it is priced between Rs 6.71-11.99 lakh.

As we’ve repeatedly reported, the Kia Sonet will be sold in a range of engine and gearbox variants. The entry-level models will feature a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated Kappa petrol engine that will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The prices of this engine variant, HTE, HTK, and HTK+ will range from Rs 6.71 lakh to Rs 8.45 lakh. Meanwhile, the most powerful engine variant, which will be the 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor, will have a starting price of Rs 9.49 lakh. On the other hand, the diesel engine variant will be retailed in a price range of Rs 8.05-11.99 lakh.

It may be noted here that the Kia Sonet will be sold in two trims – Tech Line and GT Line. The former will be available in five sub-levels – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+, while the latter will only on sale in the GTX+ guise. Out of the three engine options, the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, which will be the base motor, will be only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, on the other hand, will be sold with two transmission options – 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine option will be available in two power tunes – 100 PS-240 Nm and 115 PS-250 Nm. The former will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the latter will be paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic unit.

As you might have noticed, the Kia Sonet shares three of its four-engine options with the Hyundai Venue, while the 1.5-litre diesel-automatic powertrain comes from the Kia Sonet. It will also offer some segment-first features, including a large-screen 10.25-inch touch-sensitive infotainment unit, ventilated front seats, BOSE surround sound system, and sound-controlled ambient lighting.
