Kia Motors India will premiere its third model for the country on August 7. The new model will go on sale by next month and go on to rival cars like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and even the upcoming Nissan Magnite. Earlier, Kia released the official sketches of the upcoming SUV to reveal what the new car looks like and now, several reports with details of the trim options for the upcoming model have surfaced online. While there’s nothing unexpected here, it’s still heartening to see that the Sonet, like the Seltos, will be sold in two trim lines – GT Line and Tech Line.

This is an approach that has worked well for the Kia Seltos as the more conservative buyers seem to have loved the Tech line variants, while anyone with a sporty bent of mind has chosen the GT Line. The success of this variant distribution seem to have compelled the carmaker to offer a similar distribution even for its upcoming model. The Tech Line will have four variants, including HTE, HTK, HTX and HTX+. On the other hand, the GT Line will have three trims – GTK, GTX and GTX+. As you might have guessed already, the Tech Line will include 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options, while the sporty GT Line will have a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

As is the case with the Seltos, the Tech Line models of the Sonet will have a slightly more conventional look. Its cabin will have a beige-black dual-tone look, while the GT Line trim will have an all-black look. Its upholstery will have red stitching while red accents will be even found strewn across the cabin. These red-coloured highlights will be even found on the exterior of the vehicle. Also, the GT Line models will have sportier alloy wheels. Standard features on the top-end variants will include touchscreen infotainment screen, multi-function steering wheel, UVO connected apps and wireless smartphone charging. The safety suite of the top-spec model will include ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, cruise control and more.

Like we have said previously, the Kia Sonet will borrow its powertrain options from the Hyundai Venue, which means it will be on sale with three engine variants. The base motor will be a 1.2-litre Kappa naturally-aspirated motor that will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 1.0-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine will come mated to a 7-speed DCT.
