We live in a world where practically everything can be found online. The transport departments of different states in India have also implemented the online functionality for their services and the online application for a learner’s licence is just one of them. In Assam, applicants can go online at the official website for the Ministry of Road transport and Highways - https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/ and get all the information and forms that are required for a successful learner’s licence application. Another way to apply online is through the official website for the Transport Department of Assam - https://transport.assam.gov.in/. The application forms and rules and regulations can be found on this website. Once the forms are filled in and the documents are attached, the applicants can also make the fee payment through the websites payment portals. The applicant must also choose a date to appear for the learner’s licence test at the RTO closest to them and only if the test is cleared, will the RTO issue the licence.

Offline Application

Even though the online application process is far more popular in Assam, the offline method is not far behind. Here, applicants are required to visit the RTO that is closest to their registered address. The application forms and all other information can be found at the RTO itself. After filling in the forms correctly, the applicants must attach copies of the documents listed in the forms. These documents help verify the applicants details and information. Once the forms and documents are verified and submitted, the applicant will have to make the fee payment at the payment counter at the RTO and then select a date and time to appear for the learner’s licence test. On the selected day the applicant must visit the RTO and give the test. If successfully cleared, the applicant will be issued the licence by the RTO either on the same day or through post at the registered address.
