Mahindra has been substantial in providing the Indian automotive industry a rugged outlook. Be it the Thar or the rally variant of XUV 300, Mahindra’s input in making out of the cupboard car is commendable. Despite all the hums and drums of the automotive industry being in lockdown, Mahindra is set to launch the updated version of the XUV 500 in 2021.
Displayed as the Funster concept in Auto Expo 2020, the new XUV 500 is expected to be launched by the end of the fourth quarter of the next financial year. Test vehicles have been spotted recently which gave us a rough idea about the fascia this XUV will bear.
All-new XUV 500 is expected to be fixed with a BS-6 compliant 2.0-liter diesel engine which can produce up to 180bhp, there will be an option for a 2.0-liter petrol variant too. These engines will be mated with a six-speed manual transmission and with an automatic transmission too.
XUV 500 will be a direct competitor to the recently released Tata Harrier and Kia Seltos too. Apart from these two newly launched vehicles, the new XUV 500 will also be a direct competitor to MG Hector and Jeep Compass.
