The all-new Vitara Brezza and the S cross are battling it out in the compact SUV segment from the house of Maruti Suzuki in India. The Maruti Suzuki S Cross made its debut at the 2015 IIFA awards. It takes a more crossover oriented approach like its name suggests. It received a very lukewarm response back then but has recently received a much-needed makeover in late 2017. The Vitara Brezza, on the other hand, was launched in 2016 at the Auto Expo and has experienced tremendous success since launch. The Vitara Brezza is available in 7 trims which include LDI, VDI, ZDI, ZDI+ and 3 AMT trims as VDI (AMT), ZDI (AMT) and ZDI+ (AMT). While the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is available in 4 trims which include the smart hybrid Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Both the cars are only available in Diesel variants.

The base variants for Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross are priced around the same bracket. The top trim for the ‘S-Cross’ however, is Rs. 26000 costlier than the Vitara Brezza, ignoring the AMT options which are not available for the S Cross.

The engine specifications on Maruti Vitara Brezza and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross are identical as they use the same DDiS 200 engine. However, the Brezza weighs 40 kilograms lesser than the S Cross and will have a very minor edge over the latter in terms of performance.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is almost 305 mm shorter in length, and 100 mm shorter in wheelbase, while it is 5 mm wider and has 45mm more height when compared to Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a clear winner here with 24.3kmpl mileage. The S Cross is slightly less fuel efficient than the Brezza at 23.65 kmpl.
The exterior features on the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross include body coloured door handles, body coloured ORVMs, silver skid plate garnish, wheel arch extension, chrome front grille. The option for turn lamp ORVMs is only available in ‘ZETA’ and ‘ALPHA’ variants. An option for daytime running lamps with LED is only available in the ‘ALPHA’ variant.
On the inside, the car sports satin plating finish on AC vents, door armrest with fabric, door armrest with a leather finish (only in ‘ALPHA’ variant), front map lamp, 7 step illumination control, outside temperature display. An option for a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather seat upholstery is only available in the top end variant.
The exterior of the all-new Vitara Brezza also features body coloured door handles and body coloured ORVM. It additionally consists of a chrome front grille, roof end spoiler, front turn indicator on the bumper, and chrome garnish backdoor. While on the interiors, the Vitara Brezza includes a tachometer, inside door grab handles, multi-information display with trip meter and fuel level indicator. An inbuilt navigation system is also included in the ZDI, ZDI+, and ZDI+(AMT) variants.
