It looks like MG Motors India is on a roll. After launching a special anniversary edition of the MG Hector earlier this month, the local subsidiary of the Chinese-owned British car marque has launched the new MG Hector Dual Delight variant, which has gone on sale in two colours. Meanwhile, the Special Anniversary Edition that went on sale earlier this month is based on the Super trim and continues to be on offer.
Meanwhile, the newly launched MG Hector Dual Delight builds on the top-spec Sharp variant of the rebadged Baojun 530 and is available in dual-tone colour schemes that work well to make the vehicle look a tad more premium. For now, the MG Hector Dual Delight is on sale only in two dual-tone variants – Candy White with Starry Black and Glaze Red with Starry Black.
The recently introduced dual-tone colour variant of the MG Hector features a black-painted roof for an enhanced look. Not only this, but the new variant also gets black-painted A-pillars and black-painted ORVMs to complete the dual-tone appearance. Other than the new paint scheme, there is no other change that has been made to the reasonably well-selling model. However, as the new model is based on the top-end trim, it ends up offering many segment-first features, including a panoramic sunroof, 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ABS and EBD, 6 airbags, traction control system can be found in the new dual-tone Hector SUV.
As you might have already guessed, even the specifications remain unchanged and the MG Hector Dual Delight, like the regular top-end variant, comes with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel mill. The former even features mild-hybrid technology. Transmission options for the MG Hector include a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual unit. In terms of pricing, the new MG Hector Dual Tone is a wee bit less affordable than the regular variant. Prices of the new model start at Rs 16.84 lakh (ex-showroom), which goes on to be Rs 20,000 more than the single-tone option.
From the looks of it, with such closely scheduled launches, MG Motor India is trying to keep the Hector in limelight and work its way around the negativity that prevails over products with Chinese origins. Hence, it won’t be surprising to see the carmaker even launching a similar variant of the MG Hector Plus. Next, the carmaker is preparing the Gloster for its local debut. For the uninitiated, the Gloster is simply a rebadged Maxus D90, a Chinese SUV that seems reasonably promising.
