MG Motor India, the local subsidiary of the Chinese-owned British car marque, launched a six-seater version of the Hector, its top-selling product, around a month ago. Back at the time of the launch, the SUV was introduced at introductory prices, which have finally come to an end, thereby resulting in an increment of up to Rs 46,000 in the price of the SUV. Prices of the MG Hector Plus now start at Rs 13.74 lakh* for the base-spec Style version, while the top-spec Sharp diesel trim now costs Rs 18.69 lakh. Back at the time of the launch of the new vehicle, the carmaker had suggested that prices of the new model will increase by up to Rs 50,000 once the introductory offer ends. In tune with this, the new model is now costlier almost by the said amount.
The biggest price increase across the variant lineup of the MG Hector Plus can be seen on the base-spec diesel model, while the Smart petrol-DCT version, along with the Smart and Super trims of the diesel engine variant, will see the least increment in the prices. In comparison with the 5-seater Hector, Hector Plus is now up to Rs 80,000 costlier. However, for the premium it commands over the donor model, it offers you the benefit of having two captain seats in all three rows, along with having a refreshed front fascia.

On the exterior, the MG Hector Plus gets a fresher looking front fascia, which is owing to a reworked bumper, bolder grille and tweaked headlamps. While the updates are minor in nature, together, they do inject some freshness into the nose of the Chinese-origin SUV. Also, these changes even help it look a tad bolder than the 5-seater Hector. Inside, the SUV gets a tan brown leather upholstery instead of the dark grey one on the 5-seater model. It also gets some extra features like a gesture-controlled boot opening and closing mechanism. The Hector Plus also offers all the premium features found on the 5-seater sibling, which include electrically adjustable front seats, Infinity sound system, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting system.
Like the MG Hector, Hector Plus is available with two engine options – 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is available with the 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol motor offers 142 bhp, while the diesel motor outputs 168 bhp.
