Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), the country’s largest-selling carmaker, has recently launched the new BS6 Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG model in India at a starting price of Rs 5.61 lakh (ex-showroom). Also, the company has even launched a taxi-only variant in the form of the Maruti Suzuki Tour H2 CNG, which has a sticker price of Rs 5.37 lakh. The Maruti Celerio CNG and Maruti Tour H2 CNG used to offer a fuel mileage rating of 31.76 km/kg (CNG) before the BS6 upgrade and while the figures of the new car aren’t available, it’s pretty much for sure that they won’t be too different for the BSVI model.

The specifications of the new BS6 Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG and its taxi variant, which is called Tour H2, are exactly the same. Both the vehicles have the same specifications, though the exact official details of the same aren’t out yet. However, the BS6 version shouldn’t be too different from the BS4 version that used to be on sale earlier. Powering the Maruti Celerio BS6 is an updated version of the same K10B 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that used to power the earlier model.
Like the earlier motor, the BS6 petrol version pumps out a maximum power of 50 kW (67.98 PS) and a peak torque of 90 Nm. On the other hand, the CNG model outputs a maximum power of 43.5 kW (59.14 PS) and a peak torque of 78 Nm. While the petrol model is available with two transmission options – 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT – the CNG version is available only with the 5-speed manual option. The petrol and CNG tanks have a capacity of 35 litres and 60 litres respectively. If at all, the only specs that will be different between the BS4 and the BS6 versions will be the fuel economy rating. The BS4 version used to have a mileage of 31.76 km/kg while the mileage of the BS6 model could be a bit lower.
The new BS6 Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG is available in just one variant, which is equivalent to the VXI trim. However, it is worth mentioning here that both the CNG models have exactly the same specifications. Even in terms of the features, they offer pretty much the same equipment. Check out the features of the new BS6 Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG in the list given below –

As for the benefits, the biggest advantage that the new BS6 Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG offers over the normal, petrol model is the unbeatable value for money it offers when it comes to the running costs. Rough calculations show that the Maruti Celerio CNG is almost half as costly to run as the regular, petrol variant and this is something that not only stands out as a huge USP for the new BS6 Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG but also makes it a worthy option for the fleet market, which should love the Tour H2 variant.
