Speaking on the commencement of the bookings for the new Maruti S-Cross petrol BS6 mode, Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “S-Cross enjoys a special place in the NEXA portfolio as its flagship product and has been appreciated by over 1.25 lakh customers for its premium interiors, stylish and masculine design. |Engine||1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, K-series motor|
|Transmission||5-speed automatic, 4-speed automatic|
|Maximum Power||105 PS|
|Peak Torque||138 Nm|
As we said, the Maruti S-Cross petrol BS6 model will draw power from the same K-series 1.5-litre engine that powers other Maruti cars like the Ciaz, XL6, Ertiga and Vitara Brezza. This free-revving engine produces a maximum power of 105 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm. Transmission options for the petrol motor include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. Thanks to the latter, the S-Cross will be finally available with an automatic gearbox option for the first time ever.
Also, the company has already confirmed that the new Maruti S-Cross petrol BS6 model will be equipped with the latest generation of SHVS mild-hybrid technology. This will ensure that the fuel efficiency of the new model remains quite high regardless of the transmission option you choose. This will also ensure that not many shy away from putting their money on the S-Cross due to the discontinuation of the diesel engine. While prices of the petrol model of the S-Cross will be revealed only at the time of the launch, we don’t think there would be a huge difference from the prices of the diesel model owing to the cost-increment with BS6 update along with the inclusion of the SHVS mild-hybrid technology. Also, it is important to mention here that the crossover won’t get any sort of visual changes with the introduction of the BS6 model.
