Renault Duster 1.3 Turbo Petrol Variant to Launch Soon – DETAILS

The Renault Duster is currently the oldest SUV in its segment. Come to think of it, the Hyundai Creta has just received a generation upgrade, while the Nissan Kicks is barely a couple of years old now. This leaves the age-old Duster look and feel quite dated in the company of fresher rivals. While it has already received a few upgrades over its long innings in the country, the company is not yet to give up on the old workhorse.

Soon, the Renault Duster will receive a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that made its debut at the Auto Expo 2020 in February this year. While the official word on the launch date is yet to come out, there are good chances that the updated model would launch in India around the advent of this year’s festive season. In fact, the launch of the refreshed model was scheduled to take place earlier this year but the ongoing pandemic has led to a delay in the introduction of the updated SUV.

Visually, the Renault Duster 1.3-litre petrol Turbo variant will remain mostly unchanged, except, perhaps, for red accents on the front grille and foglamp housings and ‘Turbo’ badges at the rear. Also, the Duster 1.3-litre Turbo variant seen at the Auto Expo 2020 feature a lesser plastic cladding at the rear, red-coloured Duster logo on the updated roof rails, and the red-coloured Duster lettering on the tailgate.

Inside, the Renault Duster 1.3 Turbo will be available with the same features as the current top-end variant. It will have features like 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox and more. Safety features include ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbags, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder & speed alert as standard, reverse parking camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Hill-Start Assist.

Renault Duster 1.3-litre Turbo Petrol Specifications

Basically, in its next iteration, the Renault Duster will come with a  1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will pump out a maximum power of 153 bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The new motor will come paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, while a CVT will be optional.

This is the same engine that is already available on the Nissan Kicks. However, in spite of the introduction of the turbo-petrol motor, the company will continue to offer the current 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 104 bhp of maximum power and 142 Nm of peak torque. The naturally aspirated petrol motor is on sale with a maximum power of 104 bhp and a peak torque of 142 Nm. While the older engine will be available across the low and mid trims, the new turbo variant is likely to be reserved for the high-end variants.
