Skoda Auto India has finally launched the Rapid 1.0 TSI with automatic transmission at a starting price of Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This price is for the most affordable Rider Plus AT trim. Bookings of the new model have already been underway for a refundable amount of Rs 25,000. Deliveries of the new model should commence across all the authorised Skoda dealerships from today.

Skoda Rapid Automatic Price List

VariantPrice
Rider Plus  ₹9.49 lakh
 Ambition AT  ₹11.29  lakh
 Onyx AT  ₹11.49 lakh
 Style AT   ₹12.99 lakh
 Montecarlo AT  ₹13.29 lakh

Powering the new Skoda Rapid Automatic is the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the manual variant of the C2-segment sedan. The low-capacity turbocharged petrol engine benefits from TSI technology, which helps it output a very healthy maximum power of 110 PS (81 kW) at 5000 – 5500 rpm and 175 Nm of peak torque from 1750 to 4000 rpm. The new model even offers a decent fuel mileage of 16.24 kmpl. The engine of the upcoming model will come paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. Unlike the BS4 model, the BS6 Rapid doesn’t get an option of a DSG automatic transmission.

Also, as compared to the now-defunct 1.6-litre MPi petrol engine of the BS5 Rapid, the new version of the company’s C2-segment sedan provides the user with a power advantage of 5 per cent and a torque upsurge of 14 per cent. Furthermore, the new Skoda Rapid also offers the driver a 9 per cent increment in the fuel efficiency if you compare it to what te BSIV-compliant 1.6-litre MPi engine offered. Not just this, the latest Skoda Rapid is also claimed to offer higher refinement, efficiency as well as performance.

Speaking on the launch of the new Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI Automatic, Zac Hollis, Brand Director – ŠKODA AUTO India, has said,”With the introduction of a six-speed Automatic Transmission across the refreshed Rapid TSI range, the Czech marque has raised the benchmark within the segment. It is a reliable technology, provides a dynamic drive experience, and deems to be the best seller in its class.” The new model was launched at a virtual conference that took place yesterday. It is at this conference that the company also announced that it will double its showrooms in India by 2022. Also, the company has even announced that it will enter 15 new Indian cities in the coming times. The Skoda Rapid goes on to rival the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento and Toyota Yaris.
