The new Skoda Rapid Automatic is powered by the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the manual variant of the C2-segment sedan. The low-capacity turbocharged petrol engine benefits from TSI technology, which helps it output a very healthy maximum power of 110 PS (81 kW) at 5000 – 5500 rpm and 175 Nm of peak torque from 1750 to 4000 rpm. The new model even offers a decent fuel mileage of 16.24 kmpl. The engine of the upcoming model will come paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. Unlike the BS4 model, the BS6 Rapid doesn’t get an option of a DSG automatic transmission.

Also, as compared to the now-defunct 1.6-litre MPi petrol engine of the BS5 Rapid, the new version of the company’s C2-segment sedan provides the user with a power advantage of 5 per cent and a torque upsurge of 14 per cent. Furthermore, the new Skoda Rapid also offers the driver a 9 per cent increment in the fuel efficiency if you compare it to what te BSIV-compliant 1.6-litre MPi engine offered. Not just this, the latest Skoda Rapid is also claimed to offer higher refinement, efficiency as well as performance.

Speaking on the commencement of the bookings of the Skoda Rapid Automatic, Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, had said: “ŠKODA AUTO India recently introduced the new RAPID TSI range of products that now boasts state of the art 1.0 Turbocharged Stratified Injection engine offering the best of both worlds: exceptional power output and excellent fuel economy. An overwhelming response from brand loyalists and auto enthusiasts from across the nation has obligated the Czech marque to push the yardstick further and introduce the convenience of an AT transmission across the RAPID TSI range, at a very competitive price point.”
