The B2-segment hatchback market is dominated by the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20. There are some more models that have been present in this segment but haven’t had much success, namely the Honda Jazz and the VW Polo. However, there’s yet another car that has been more successful than the likes of the Honda Jazz but isn’t anywhere close to the Baleno or the i20. Yes, we’re talking about the Tata Altroz, which is the newest of the lot and has been in reasonable demand. However, in order to lure more buyers, Tata Motors has reduced the prices of the diesel variants of this vehicle.
With this move, however, the base-level XE trim of the Tata Altroz diesel continues to remain on sale for Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), but all other variants, including XM, XT, XZ, and XZ (O), now cost Rs. 40,000 lower than before. With this, the most premium Tata car to have ever rolled out has got better priced. The XM version comes with a price tag of Rs. 7.50 lakh instead of Rs. 7.90 lakh that it commanded previously.
The XT trim, which is quite popular, now has a sticker price of Rs. 8.19 lakh, while XZ retails at Rs. 8.79 lakh and XZ (O) at Rs. 8.95 lakh. It is worth a mention here that the complete Altroz range saw a price hike of as much as Rs 16,000 back in August 2020, except for the entry-level XE diesel model. This could be a reason for the company deciding not to slash the prices of this particular variant.
|Tata Altroz Variants||Old Price||New Price|
|1. XE||Rs. 6.99 lakh||Rs. 6.99 lakh (No Change)|
|2. XM||Rs. 7.90 lakh||Rs. 7.50 lakh (-Rs. 40k)|
|3. XT||Rs. 8.59 lakh||Rs. 8.19 lakh (-Rs. 40k)|
