Tata Motors, the popular homegrown carmaker, has announced the achievement of an important milestone in the Electric Vehicle (EV) market as it has rolled out the 1000th unit of the Nexon EV from its Pune-based manufacturing facility. This landmark has been achieved in a matter of a little more than 6 months since the country’s most affordable electric SUV was launched in the Indian market in a bid to ride the wave of increasing interest in electric vehicles. Thanks to being more affordable than its immediate rivals, the Nexon EV has been quick to become a segment-leader and commanded a share of 62% in the EV market in Q1FY21.

Speaking on this momentous occasion, Shailesh Chandra, President – Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “Acceptance of EVs is accelerating fast, and we are seeing growing interest in it from all parts of the country. The rollout of the 1000th Nexon EV in a short time span, despite the challenges of Covid-19, reflects the rising interest of personal segment buyers in EVs. Tata Motors will continue to innovate and develop comprehensive sustainable mobility solutions meeting global standards. EVs are the future and as the industry leader, we are committed to make them desirable and a mainstream choice for the customers.”

It must be mentioned here that Tata Motors commenced its EV business with the launch of Tigor EV Electric Sedan, which went on to become a choice of many fleet operators as well as Government agencies like EESL. The Tigor EV offers a driving range of up to 213 km and was quick to establish itself well in the EV segment. Next, the company launched the Nexon EV, which offers a driving range of 312 km, thereby reducing the range of anxiety that several EV-users face. Moreover, in order to popularise the use of Nexon EV in the country, Tata Motors has even launched an EV Subscription model that is ideal for those who prefer leasing out a car than purchasing one.

As a part of its subscription plan, Tata Motors is providing the Nexon EV for monthly subscription rates for flexible tenure – Prices of subscription plans start at Rs 41,900 for 36 months, Rs 44,900 for 24 months and Rs 47,900 for 18 months. This car lease plan is a first-of-its-kind service for any electric vehicle on sale in India. This subscription plan is being offered directly by Tata Motors. The Tata Nexon EV has been priced from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available at select dealerships in cities with EV-charging infrastructure.
