The auto sector is about to see a lot of new EVs in the years to come. Many auto giants are focusing on the ways they can improve and launch EVs throughout the world. The company recently launched the Nexon EV and the Tigor EV as well, and seeing a welcoming response from Indian consumers; the brand is planning to launch 10 more EVs in the coming five years. Tata has been continuously working on expanding its grasp on the EV market in India, and the brand has invested more than 15 crores towards developing EV. Tata has even become the largest carmaker in India.
Tata has been moving towards EVs with all the might. Tata Motors is planning to bring back the iconic Tata Sierra as a standalone electric car, which means that it won’t have any Internal combustion engine like that the present Nexon and Tigor. The new Sierra promises to be the SUV of the future, with its modern design and Tata’s iconic nameplate concept.
The all-electric Tata Sierra concept was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020, leaving all the Tata fans with high hopes that the car will be launched at the Sigma platform. This Sigma platform is a true engineering marvel that took adaptations from the X4 and ALFA platform. There were many parameters that had to be taken into consideration, such as the sufficient space for the repackaging of the battery packs, fuel tank region alteration, transmission tunnel removal in order to get more space within the vehicle.
The Sigma platform on which the new Sierra is based will be lighter than the ALFA platform-based vehicles. Tata is planning to go old school on the design and bring back the three-door version with two-door on one side and a single door on one, but there are chances of the four-door layout. The car spec sheet is yet to be revealed, but as per the speculations, the SUV is said to run around 500km on a single charge. A few speculated features of the car include the big infotainment system with AI for driving at ease, the staggering panoramic sunroof with a digital cluster. The Sierra EV is a big SUV that will come in 6-8 seating options, giving the Sierra a grand look.
The price of the Tata Sierra EV is predicted to be around in the price band of Rs. 15-25 lakhs. As per the officials, the Sierra EV will be available in India only after 2025.
