Top 10 Bestselling Cars in March 2022

March 2022 was a good month for carmakers, a hopeful glimmer amidst tensed sales and industry equipment shortages. Manufacturers recorded good numbers, and many even performed better when compared on a YoY basis. 

Here’s a list of the top 10 best selling cars this month:

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 

The Wagon R is well-loved and most widely bought for a reason. It was the top-selling car in the month of March with 24,634 units sold! It saw both monthly and yearly increases, registering a solid 68 percent increase over February and a 30 percent yearly growth. The Wagon R starts at Rs 5.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Dzire 

Maruti Suzuki Dzire sold about 18,623 units last month. The compact sedan is one of the highest-selling cars for the company. It saw a 7 percent monthly increase and a whopping 63 percent yearly increase. Dzire starts from Rs 6.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Maruti killed it this month, with the hatchback being its third consecutive offering on this list. Top 3! The all-new Baleno sold 14,520 units, registering a 16 percent growth over February. Compared to March last year, though there was a decline of 32 percent. It starts at Rs 6.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tata Nexon 

Tata Motors’ star player Nexon continued to shine this month too. With 14,315 units sold, Nexon was the bestselling SUV in March. It recorded a 65 percent yearly growth. Nexon starts from Rs 7.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Swift 

Swift sold 13,623 units in March. It saw a decline of 37 percent yearly and 29 percent monthly. The hatchback starts at Rs 5.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza 

Vitara Brezza sold 12,439 units last month, registering a growth of 10 percent compared to March 2021. It is the second bestselling SUV after the Nexon. The SUV starts at Rs 7.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai’s bestselling car of March, Creta, sold 10,532 units. While it reflected a monthly growth of 10 percent, it showed a 17 percent yearly decline. Creta currently starts from Rs 10.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tata Punch

Tata Punch made its way back to the Top 10 after skipping February. It sold 10,526 units. Prices start from Rs 5.67 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios 

Hyundai’s Grand i10 Nios sold 9,687 units in March, registering a 12 percent YoY decline. The hatchback starts from Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Eeco

Maruti’s Eeco sold  9,221 units last month. In the month of March. The Eeco starts from Rs 4.53 lakh and comes with both petrol and CNG options.
