Toyota is ready to unleash its much awaited beast in the Indian market this month. One of the highest selling pickup truck in the world, the Toyota Hilux is officially launching on 20th January in India according to the reports. This is the first time the brand has planned to add a pickup truck to its Indian portfolio.

The bookings for the new Toyota Hilux have already begun before the expected official launch date. The specifications, features, price, and color variants can be confirmed as the dealers have already received the documentation for the vehicle. The feature-loaded Hilux is set to give a tough time to its competitors.

The new Toyota Hilux will be available in 4-door double-cab five-seat configuration in India. The Hilux will be as strong as the now available Fortuner and the Innova Crysta, as this new car is based on the Toyota’s IMV2 architecture. There are some features of Hilux that can be confirmed before launch, such as the 18-inch alloys, which look very similar to the ones already deployed on the Fortuner. The Hilux is said to have LED headlamps, a similar infotainment system as that of Innova Crysta and Fortuner. There will also be electronically adjustable front row seats in the new Hilux.

When it comes to power, the Hilux is composed of the same 2.8 litre diesel engine as that of the Fortuner. The Hilux will be offered both the 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options for the buyers. The pickup has a staggering output of 204bhp and 420 Nm torque when in manual transmission and an increased torque of 500 Nm when in automatic transmission. When it comes to pickup trucks, it is essential that we speak of their off-road capabilities. This pickup truck has all the necessary features required for off-road adventures, such as the standard AWD, electronic limited-slip differential, and locking rear differential.

The Hilux will be assembled entirely in Karnataka at Toyota’s Bidadi facility. The new Toyota car will be sharing some parts with the available Fortuner. The Hilux will be available to buyers in five color options to choose from, ranging from Pearl White, Super White, Emerald Red, Grey Metallic, and Silver Metallic.

The bookings for the Toyota Hilux pickup have already commenced at 1 lakh as the booking cost. The price for this has not been confirmed yet but is expected to be around Rs.25-30 lakh making it slightly lower than the Fortuner. Speaking of the competitor, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is the only pickup that will rival the Hilux in the country, as the others like Tata Xenon, Mahindra Scorpio Getaway are currently out of production.

Toyota offers a 3-year/1,00,000 km standard warranty on the Hilux that can be extended for up to 5-years/2,20,000 km. The delivery of the new Hilux is expected to commence from March 2022.
