Toyota India has pulled a fast one on us by launching the facelifted Innova Crysta well ahead of what was originally expected. While it was believed the spruced-up Innova Crysta might only arrive on our shores at the beginning of 2021, it is officially here now. So then, let us get straight to it. In terms of its ex-showroom pricing, the Innova Crysta facelift costs between Rs 16.26 lakh to Rs 24.33 lakh. Depending on your taste, you can have the new Innova in one of three trim levels – the entry-level GX, mid-tier VX, and the top-line ZX. Ever since its introduction in India some 15 years ago, Toyota has sold 8.8 lakh units of the Innova. Now, the latest iteration is here to carry forward that stellar reputation.

Further, we would like to thank our loyal customers for their relentless trust that has made Innova the best-selling MPV in the country. This being a mid-cycle facelift, do not expect any radical design changes on the outside or inside this ‘new’ Innova Crysta. But to help make it stand out from earlier models, the facelifted Innova Crysta has been given a few but much-needed updates. Some of the new bits here include a bolder-looking trapezoidal front grille, which is dressed in piano black trim and features a chunky chrome surround. The facelift also brings along a more sculpted front bumper and a new design for the diamond-cut alloy wheels. However, apart from these little alterations, the rest of the exterior styling of the facelifted Innova Crysta remains identical to its predecessor.
Toyota has given the facelifted Innova Crysta a new Camel Tan leather interior upholstery to make it look more luxurious and appealing. The update further adds an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Toyota’s Smart Playcast feature, plus Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. On the safety front, the only addition here is the presence of front parking sensors alongside the standard rear ones. Of course, higher up the ladder, the facelifted Innova Crysta gets Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and 7 airbags. Meanwhile, all variants come with ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, rear ISOFIX anchors, and front seatbelts with pre-tensioners & force limiters.
If convenience features are what you like, the Innova Crysta facelift should please you quite a bit. Its equipment list includes automatic climate control, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, and a 6-speaker audio system. Finally, the facelift also brings with it an all-new color option – Sparkling Black Crystal Shine.
The Innova Crysta facelift can be had with either a petrol or diesel engine, while transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol engine produces 164hp and 245Nm, whilst the 2.4-liter turbo-diesel motor cranks out 148hp and a maximum of 360Nm of torque (automatic version). Do note that the Toyota Innova Crysta facelift is available in both 7- and 8-seater specs, while prices have shot up by up to Rs 70,000.
