It has by now become rather well-known that Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is close to launching its second ‘badge-engineered’ product based on a Maruti Suzuki model. The car in question here is the Toyota Urban Cruiser, a sub-compact SUV based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The launch of the new model is about to happen but ahead of its official debut, Toyota has recently revealed some features of the upcoming model, along with also revealing the booking details of its new offering.

Bookings for the new Toyota Urban Cruiser will start from tomorrow from the token amount of Rs 11,000. Interested customers can either register a booking online or head to the nearest authorized dealership. What’s interesting to note here is that while Toyota has revealed the booking amount to be Rs 11,000, earlier, select dealerships were registering ‘unofficial’ bookings against a token amount of Rs 21,000. However, the same was being done at the dealership’s discretion and had nothing to do with the company’s plan of commencing bookings.

Other than revealing the booking details, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has even gone on to reveal some of the highlights of the features list of the Toyota Urban Cruiser. On the outside, the new model will look quite bold and will probably come across as a more attractive vehicle than its donor model simply because of the large two-slat wedge cut dynamic grille that looks a lot like the one on the latest Toyota Fortuner. This grille comes adorned with chrome. Other than this, the SUV even gets a trapezoidal bold fog lamp area. Interestingly, the front-end will be home to premium looking dual-chamber LED projector headlamps with dual function LED DRL-cum–indicators and LED fog lamps. Buyers of the new model will even get the option of 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on the top model, along with getting to choose from all the colours available on the donor model.
Powering the Toyota Urban Cruiser will be the same K-Series 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that is available on the Brezza. Even the transmission options remain the same, which means the SUV will be available with both 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed torque converter automatic options. The latter will even sport
