July was an important month for the Indian automotive industry. With the economy gaining strength slowly and steadily, the auto industry saw signs of recovery with new car launches this past month.
The launches are expected to continue this month, with multiple new car launches scheduled for the month of August. Initially set to launch earlier, many of these had to be pushed back due to the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Heres the list of the launches for this month:
Slated to be launched on August 5, the BS6 version is a huge step up from the publically favorable BS4 version. Maruti is offering a petrol-only version with a 1.5-litre petrol motor with the mild-hybrid tech as the facelifted Vitara Brezza. It will also get an automatic gearbox for the first time in India. The feature update also includes Maruti’s latest 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Expected Prices(ex-showroom): Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 12.1 lakh

Kia’s second SUV for the Indian market, the Sonet, is all set to be revealed on August 7. It is expected to also be offered with a diesel-automatic option, along with the same three engines as the Hyundai Venue. The Sonet is also expected to have a 360-degree camera view and has the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system!
Expected Prices(ex-showroom): Rs 7 lakh to Rs 11.5 lakh

The XUV300 Sportz will be based on the top-spec XUV300 W8(O) petrol variant. It comes with a host of new highlights including, the new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine that is rated at 130PS and 230Nm and a 6-speed manual gearbox. After its launch on August 14, the XUV300 Sportz will be the most powerful sub-4m SUV in the country.

First showcased at the AutoExpo 2020, the new Duster Turbo is all set to slay the Indian roads. Powered by the new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine (156PS/250Nm), the Duster Turbo will come equipped with a 6-speed MT and a CVT. It will hit the market on August 17.
Expected Price(ex-showroom): Rs 11.5 lakh
Rivals: Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Mahindra Scorpio, Nissan Kicks
The Maruti Vitara Brezza-based Toyota Urban Cruiser is expected to be launched in September 2020. It will be powered by the donor SUV’s 1.5-litre petrol engine (105PS/138Nm). Offered with both manual and automatic transmission options, Toyota is expected to start bookings in late August, most likely after August 21.
