As you can see in the table above, prices of the Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift start at Rs 7.34 lakh. This is Rs 28,000 lower than what the entry-level version of the pre-facelift model commanded. On the other hand, the top-end automatic model is priced Rs 81,000 higher than the AMG version of the most feature-laden diesel variant of the pre-facelift model. In fact, even VXI, which is equivalent of VDI grade, is Rs 24,000 costlier than before. But this increment in price is justified through the higher features that the vehicle gets. Also, compared to the basic AMT of the diesel automatic model, the petrol vehicle gets a torque-converter unit and also an SHVS mild-hybrid technology.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift Specs

Powering the pre-facelift version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza was a 1.3-litre D13A turbocharged diesel engine that produced a maximum power of 88.5bhp at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 200Nm at 1,750 rpm. The engine came mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT units, depending on which variant you choose. The motor used to be available in a BSIV-compliant state.

On the other hand, the Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift comes with a 1.5-litre K15B, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that offers a maximum power of 103.5bhp and a peak torque of 138Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission model comes with the company’s SHVS mild-hybrid technology.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift Mileage

The diesel-powered pre-facelift version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza used to offer an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl. On the other hand, the new Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift offers an ARAI-rated mileage of 17.03 km for the manual transmission model and 18.76 kmpl for the automatic variant. The fuel efficiency of the automatic version is more than that of the manual model as the former comes with the SHVS mild-hybrid technology that optimizes the fuel efficiency.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift Features

The Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift gets some additional features over the model it has replaced. All variants, except for the entry-level LXI trim, come with LED projector headlamps, push-button start/stop, keyless entry and go, Bluetooth audio system, power windows on all four doors and a multi-function steering wheel with audio and telephone control. Standard safety features across all trims include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed-sensing door lock, impact-sensing door unlock, high speed alert, front seatbelt warning, ISOFIX child seats and child lock.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift Styling

On the outside, the updated Vitara Brezza gets new LED projector headlamps that give the front-end a slightly more modern look. Also, the grille is new and gets faux carbon trim that might not be to everyone’s taste but does refresh the fascia to some extent. The bumper is new, too, and carries new foglamp enclosures and a faux skid plate that has a silver finish on the top-end trim and comes in black colour in the lower variants.

The interior remains more or less unchanged as the company has decided not to offer an updated dashboard or a new trim. The highlight of the cabin continues to be a Clarion-based Smartplay Studio infotainment unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other than this the cabin also remains as spacious as ever, with segment-best legroom in both the rows.

The refreshed Brezza will be available in three new dual-tone colour options – Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, Torque Blue with midnight Black roof and Granite Grey with Autumn Orange roof.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift Rivals

With the Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol price starting at Rs 7.34 lakh (ex-showroom), the refreshed SUV finds itself in crosshairs with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon. Other than this, soon, the Brezza would even lock horns with the Kia Sonet, which is a Venue-based sub-4-metre compact SUV that will launch by July this year. Currently, the Brezza is the only SUV in its company’s portfolio but it might soon get a bigger sibling in the form of the next generation Vitara SUV.

Summing it all up, the 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift is a clear upgrade over the earlier model. It is not only more stylish than before, but also comes with additional features. Also, the new engine is far more powerful than before, though it’s true that the fuel efficiency has gone down considerably. That said, offering a BS6 diesel engine would have led to a huge increment in price, which would have more than offset any advantage from higher mileage and slightly cheaper fuel.
