Staying connected in the modern world doesn’t just involve keeping in touch with our near and dear ones, but also with our car. While that might sound strange to some folks, it makes all the difference in the world for many others. To help improve its customer experience, Volkswagen India has just rolled out the ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ app, and it comes pre-installed on the new Polo GT TSI and Vento Highline Plus. Customers can also download this app on their Android/iOS devices, and it comes with 3 years of free subscription plus 3 years of warranty.
Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said in a statement,
“At Volkswagen India, we have relentlessly been working towards enhancing and providing our customers the best of technology and connected solutions. Today, we introduced the upgraded ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ app that offers customer convenience and safety at their fingertips. Customers will have access to real-time vehicle analysis and assistance that would make them aware of their vehicle condition, driving patterns, and enhance the overall fun-to-drive experience that a Volkswagen stands for.”
Not too long ago, Volkswagen was providing a similar feature in some of their cars. However, the key difference between the old and new Connected App is in their functioning. While the old one used the car’s Bluetooth system to function, the new iteration is SIM-based. Therefore, you no longer need to be anywhere close to your VW for this app to function. All you need is your smartphone and the new My Volkswagen Connect app, and you are good to go. To make the system work as it should, you will have to connect a dongle to the car’s on-board diagnostics (OBD) port.
Once the dongle has been connected and you have installed the app on your smartphone, all you got to do is verify your phone number via an OTP (one-time pin). And that is about it. The advantages of the ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ app are aplenty – some more tangible than others. For instance, users can now check their driving style and several other aspects of driving as well. This can include vehicle speed, braking behavior, coolant temperature, acceleration, and engine RPM, to name a few. This app’s other features include a fuel monitor, parking locator, towing alert, and a digital logbook. Customers can even call for roadside assistance and store vehicle documents. The app itself can receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
