Advantages over Comparable Car Models in the Same Segment

The BMW 5 Series is a strong, sturdy, powerful car, which offers a well-balanced ride quality. It has a max power of 261 bhp @ 4000 rpm as compared to the 191 bhp @ 3800 rpm of the Mercedes E Class.

The BMW 5 Series (Diesel, Top Model) is powered by a 2993 cc engine, while the Mercedes-Benz E Class (Diesel, Top Model) is powered by a 1950 cc engine.

Mileage-wise, the BMW 5 Series 530d M Sport gives a mileage of 17.42 kmpl, while the Mercedes E Class 220d edition gives a mileage of 16.1 kmpl.

The BMW 5 Series is available in petrol and diesel variants, while the Audi A6 is available only in petrol.

The BMW 5 Series provides a mileage of 14.82 kmpl (Petrol top model) while the Audi A6 provides a mileage of 14 kmpl (petrol top model).

The 5 Series’ 12.3” touchscreen is super attractive and easily readable. The iDrive system is more user friendly than the MMI touchscreen infotainment system in the A6.

The rear seat, though wide and comfortable, is not spacious enough to comfortably seat a third person at the back. Also, a more reclined angle for the backseat would have been preferable; The Audi A6 is slightly more comfortable for the rear passengers and also has a bigger boot.

The Mercedes E class has a boot space of 540 litres as compared to the 520-litre boot of the 5 Series.

The fuel capacity of the Audi A6 is 73 litres as compared to 70 litres of the BMW 5 Series; The Mercedes E Class has a fuel tank capacity of 80 litres.

The BMW 5 Series’ starting price is INR 63.90 lakhs, which is 6.12 lakhs more than the starting price of the Audi 6, which is priced at INR 57.78 lakhs. The base model of the Mercedes E Class is priced at INR 64.55 lakhs. This makes the BMW 5 Series value-for-money and comparable to other brands and models in the same segment.

The BMW 5 Series has received rave reviews from customers and experts alike. It delivers on all fronts- looks and performance. It is a strong, powerful car that glides effortlessly on Indian roads. The diesel engine is smooth and almost soundless, and it offers a well-balanced ride without feeling stiff and travels well over bumpy roads. The interiors are smart and classy, with wooden trims lining the dash. Price-wise, the BMW 5 Series is comparable to other cars in this segment, such as Audi A6 or the Mercedes E-class, and it is definitely value for money, coming as it does from the BMW stable. The 12.3” iDrive infotainment touchscreen is the best in this segment. A digital assistant, a 360-degree camera, auto parking assist and wireless Apple CarPlay, as well as Wireless Android Auto and the reversing assistant, accompany this. One of the most important upgrades in this vehicle is the lumbar support in the front seats, which makes it extremely comfortable for the front passenger. It also has four-zone climate control, electric sunroof, Harman Kardon Sound System, in-built navigation system with Smartphone integration, ambient lighting and gesture control. The 5 Series also comes equipped with a whole gamut of safety features such as Airbags for driver and front passenger, head airbags front and rear, side airbags for driver and front passenger, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensor etc. While the price of the BMW 5 Series may have gone up, that is the case across the segment; it is neither more nor less expensive than any other car in this segment. It tries to straddle the best of both worlds - the sporty 3 Series as well as the luxurious 6 Series, and it succeeds at it too. The BMW 5 Series is the ideal car for someone who is looking for a strong, sturdy, and dependable car in this segment.
